"..Another driver was with me, a man from Berlin named Orel or something like that. We then drove this vehicle to Kiev, too. The gas van was deployed for the first time in Kiev. My job was just to drive the vehicle. The van was loaded by the local staff. About forty people were loaded inside. There were men women and children. I was supposed to tell the people they were going to be put to work. The people were pushed up a short ladder and into the van. The van door was then bolted shut, and the hose was attached. It was already in place - I did that, it was cold at the time. I drove through the town to the antitank ditches. The bodies were thrown into the antitank ditches. I am sure that it was in Kiev; I myself took part in this operation." Wilhelm Findeisen.

As an Indian my heart fills with pride to say that probably THE ONLY country in the world which did not persecute it's Jewish people is our Bharat Mata, our India, mother to the world. The Jews flourished here and those who left for Israel or other lands, did so of their own free will, not out of fear of their lives. Hail India

In a form of poetic justice, Hitler's decision to divert the panzers from Moscow and encircle Kiev, enabling the Babi Yar massacre, cost him the war against the Soviet Union, and ended with him blowing his brains out four years later. Also, once all the Jews were dead, many of the collaborators were killed later in the war. And many of the soldiers who participated in the massacre were themselves killed in the meatgrinder that was the Eastern Front. War, mass murder and hatred benefit no one. It is all tragedy.

The Holodomor was a famine, part of a larger famine that existed in the USSR between 1932 and 1933. It is a source of debate as to whether it was planned and/or deliberately targeted the Ukrainians (I believe it was) however there is no need for a Jewish reconciliation. It is a popular anti-Semite propaganda misconception that Judaism (a religion not a race) was responsible for Bolshevism and 'ruled the USSR' behind the scenes.

Why only commemorate some people killed on September 29-30, 1941? The killing at Babi Yar went on for a long time and included over 100,000 victims, even up to150,000, including Red Army soldiers taken prisoner, many of whom were Ukrainian, and Ukrainian patriots who opposed the Nazi German occupation. Bolshevik Russia's NKVD used this site as a killing ground even before the Nazi Germans did, so Babi Yar is really a place where both Nazi Germany and Bolshevik Russia committed genocides.

I recommendd Harvest of Despair by Karl C. Berkoff for the best presentation of the event(s) and how they were witnessed and perceived by the victims and other contemporaries in Kiev at the time. Bloodlands is probably the definitive outline of the horrors of the early 20th century in that region, while Harvest zeroes in on a portion of it (Ukraine) in a specific time (Nazi rule, with some reference to the Soviet troubles) in greater detail.

Wow, looking at the pictures, it seems War and Remembrance did a great job in terms of accuracy -- the terrain, vegetation, size of the crowd, etc. Apparently the real Babi Yar involved more targeted shooting in the back of the head of lines of victims by lines of soldiers, compared to W&R depicting it as machine-gunning lines of people from a distance, but aside from that, they got it very accurate.

God can and will undo all the damage of the Holocaust. God promises to bring back to life millions who have died, including Holocaust victims. He will also eliminate the pain that Holocaust survivors feel because of horrific memories. Hello Alien Engineer, Yes...friend.....I cannot deny that given the state of the world and humanity today....then you may have a possible truth.I respect intellegent possibilities and arguments about contentious issues, however, the video and photographic evidence aligned with 'eye' witness accounts,as well as the confessional statements, of the Germans involved, kind of puts your contention to the test.'You can fool some of the people all of the time......etc'.However, I believe in democracy and you have every right to your view....particularly given the behaviour of Israel over the years and their, arguably, criminal activities, related to the Palestinian people. So I don't dscount your views, although I believe that an intelligent person such as you.....will take a look at all sides of this particular range of arguments and views......my lifelong experience is that nothing is, as it seems or appears.

In February 1997 a Ukrainian court threw out a case brought by Ukrainian Jews against V. Kretytnychy of the St. Andrew Society and E. Musiyenko, editor of the Kiev Evening News (Vechirnyi Kyiv), who challenged the official Babi Yar story. Encouraged by the court decision, on March 19, 1997 the Kiev Evening News published a four-page story setting the record straight for the first time since the Allies condemned the phony "atrocity" during World War II.

I get tired and frustrated that people think only Germans did this. They weren't alone, no very far from it. Also find it frustrating that most fail to learn from history's greatest lesson. Most people are capable of committing atrocities. It's not just a Japanese, German, Russian, old southeastern American, or wherever else you want to throw a dart at the globe. Inhumanity is a bi-product of human nature. All people need is to be convinced it's the price of peace and or freedom.

There is no need to exaggerate the part played in the creation of Bolshevism and in the actual bringing about of the Russian Revolution by these international and for the most part atheistical Jews. It is certainly a very great one; it probably outweighs all others. With the notable exception of Lenin, the majority of the leading figures are Jews. Moreover, the principal inspiration and driving power comes from the Jewish leaders.
