@@Db--jt7btas a 17 year old, my brain isn't fully developed. You know what that means? It means I have a higher sex drive and I do dumb stuff and I have higher anxiety and hormonal shit, but still know the difference between right and wrong and when I fked up and should stop while I'm behind. What that does NOT mean is that I am exempt from consequences if I do something that puts others at risk. I do dumb shit, don't get me wrong, but I do dumb shit that only affects me and I calculate "how hurt will I get if the worst case scenario happens". And I will say I am a pretty mentally ill teenager even amongst teenagers(medically), so tell me why if I of all people can see that teens should be serving time for their crimes then adults can't. We don't magically become able to care for ourselves at 18, if a 17 year old is not mature enough to be charged for evading police and driving recklessly and stealing a car, then teens should not be given licenses(as somebody who has been driving since 14) if insurance is higher and car rentals won't rent to under 25, they should not be allowing 14 year olds to drive. the fact of the matter is that YES our brains are not fully developed and YES we do dumb shit but that does not mean we don't know when something crosses the line between "oh I'm curious I'm gonna go to that party" and "somebody could die" and we should be held to the same accountability and justice. I say this because I have seen 17 year olds at my former high school who get away with serious crimes(mostly involving the girls) and other kids have to literally get into fights to defend themselves only to be told that they're in the wrong because "his brain isn't fully developed yet" and I have had friends written off because "he just likes you and his brain isn't fully developed" or "he's only 17 he didn't tag your car" despite video evidence proving it and an older person being present at the time(different friend in question, honestly maybe that high school just really sucked) Sorry for a paragraph, TLDR: as a teen, I agree with you, teens are in fact undeveloped still but not to the point we don't know right and wrong, how to drive, when to pull over and even if we don't evaluate risks all that well we know when doing something could kill somebody.

25% of the entire worlds prison population is locked up right here in the land of the free. JAIL IS NOT WORKING! There is so many of you people who believe in locking everyone up and throwing away the key. Every jail and prison is over capacity as we speak. They can’t build them fast enough. The only place in our entire country where segregation and racism are still practiced are in our jails and prisons. In fact you could get killed for not being with your race in jail. That is not the answer. Bad people are going to jail and they come out worse. People like you have made the police such an aggressive and out of control entity and you all keep on with this idea that more people should go to jail. Police represent the muscle of government. Government has always been a necessary evil that we must put up with. People like you can’t hurl our freedoms right back into the hands of the government fast enough. We can’t keep punishing people harder, we need to overhaul the entire criminal justice system to give people who mess up something of an opportunity in life, instead of putting a mark on their record that will follow them and further destroy their lives for good. How about role models, access to college, ways to learn a trade so they can develop themselves into respectable young men instead of going to jail where they meet all the other criminals and learn how to commit more crimes with more bad people. Prison is the wrong answer.
