Thanks Fred in the Dobie Gillis pitch the dark haired actress who first talks to Dwayne Hickman is Yvonne Craig. She appeared in 5 episodes of the series as different characters over the series run. Herbert Anderson who appeared as Dobie's teacher was replaced after the pilot by William Shallert( later of The Patty Duke Show) he had also shot the Dennis The Menace pilot and decided he would take that series instead. Sponsors for the series included Marlboro, Pillsbury and Colgate- Palmolive.

The Chevy commercial was 1959 at the earliest because that's a 1960 Chevy Impala Sport Sedan. Chevy sponsored My Three Sons starting on 9-29-60, so this was before that show. The 1972 CBS new show promo was very nice to see and lots of those shows were future classics and I watched many of them back in the day. Never heard of the Robert Young series Window on Main Street, from 1961-62 until now. Frank Faylen and Florida Friebus from Dobie Gillis were well cast. Thanks for all the bumpers.

Great as always Fred! 😎 We watched almost all of those shows on the CBS lineup when I was growing up. Dobie Gillis is cool, I've seen it a few times in reruns. Bob Denver does a great job with his character imo. I'm not certain but it looked like a young, pre Batgirl, Yvonne Craig, in that clip with Dobie.

I had to play the video 3 times in order to catch the gun. In my neighborhood every kid in the 60's had a gun and it had to be a Roy Rogers. As the only girl in the gang, I told my parents NOT to get me a Dale Evans model. Interestingly, I never saw a real gun in any neighbors' homes. They may have been locked up in a gun rack locked inside a closet. Also, we rarely played inside and we NEVER touched anything in anyone else's home because our mothers and grandmothers could see everywhere. Really. They could. And, no kid in my area ever wore "cowboy" hats especially with chin straps, chaps, bolos, boots, or western shirts when we played cowboys. Just guns. We were authentic without that other stuff. We left those other things to the few rich kids on their mini ranches. Believe me, NO kid back then that I knew would have ever pointed a toy gun at anybody - family, friends, anyone else in this world. If they had, they probably would still be "unable to come out to play". My chicken-neck-twisting German-Polish farm girl grandmother probably would have grabbed it and pistol-whipped me if I tried anything like that.

Great job, Fred! 0:13: Ida Lupino was not only a busy actress at the time, she got into directing too. She directed a couple THRILLER episodes and a S5 TWILIGHT ZONE episode. She starred in a S1 TZ episode, as did her husband, Howard Duff. In his episode, his character's obnoxious wife was played by Eileen Ryan, who was just a couple years from becoming Sean Penn's mom. 4:32: This was Sandy Duncan's 2nd consecutive season starring in a new show, as she had major surgery which stopped her series during the previous season. MASH had pretty bad ratings its first season, competing against Disney and having ANNA & THE KING as a lead-in. MASH was never regularly scheduled as early as it was this season (8 PM ET) after this season, though it was scheduled for 8:30 ET a couple seasons. 8:38: I guess things got so bad w/ his son, Dennis, that Henry Mitchell had another job over the same 4 seasons teaching Dobie, Maynard, & the rest of them. I didn't know Dobie had a big brother. He looks a lot like Milton Armitage.

Did anyone catch the cig in Yvonne Craig's hand? She really DID have talent but never had her career take off. In the Fix Or Repair Daily car is the greatest character ever on TV - "Chip" - the second of Fred MacMurray's FOUR sons on My Three Sons. Poor guy, his TV wife (Polly) never did anything but complain about whatever he was doing. I gave up watching the show, learned a life lesson to try to keep complaining to a minimum, and hoped that Stanley Livingston would find happiness in real life. Dobie Gillis Show? Nope. My favorite of the "upcoming shows" was The Bob Newhart Show. What a cast! Everyone was just the best, especially Suzanne. And the sheet sets were fantastic. Bill Cosby - never watched his "family-centric" shows. Didn't think he was believable.
