@lexuanson1616

In my opinion, it is probably best that you should just come back and live in Ho Chi Minh City after 5-6 years. At that time, all means of transport will be converted from internal combustion engines with polluting emissions from gasoline and noise pollution to Vinfast electric vehicles that are odorless, noiseless and pollution-free (buses, sedans, SUVs, scooters, electric bicycles). The 511km railway system and 10 Metro lines will also be completed 1/3 according to the project plan. At that time, all canals in the city will be dredged and the water filtration system and parks along the canals will be completed. The trend of developing the city along the two banks of the Saigon River and the boat traffic route uses the length of the canals of more than 1200km.

Westerners sometimes leave their home countries due to high costs of living, seeking affordability and new opportunities in places like Vietnam. However, their migration often replicates familiar problems. In seeking lower costs and opportunities, they can unintentionally drive up local prices, contributing to gentrification and making it harder for local residents to afford housing. This influx can also disrupt local economies and cultures, as preferences and demands shift to cater to new arrivals rather than preserving existing community dynamics. Thus, while seeking a better life abroad, Westerners inadvertently replicate the issues they left behind, challenging the delicate balance of affordability and community in their new host countries like Vietnam. Toxic, Toxic, Toxic.

For Viet Nam, unless you're on an investor visa, a marriage visa, or a work visa, you're limited to 90 days. So a border run every 90 days, which means, besides that inconvenience, two possible bad results. First, your new visa app is denied, goodbye to you, or second, you have your visa but the border agent may deny you entry. If the latter, not only can you not get back in but what happens to your belongings? You know what we say about, troubled times is when you learn who your friends are. So that can go sideways too. Some report doing the visa runs for a decade while some others say, first few years then I was told that this is a tourist visa and not so I can live here. Is simply astounding when some do their retire in Viet Nam vid while not bothering to relate that Viet Nam has no retirement visa (or any long stay visa beyond those stated above). Lastly, perhaps relate some other items as well, two of which are, first, you don't want to be found in Da Nang during monsoon season and, second, like many a locale in SEA, expect scheduled days without power and also random power interruptions for the cherry on top. For a third, garbage/litter/pollution. Check the rental sites, note the ones with vids of the units, with the bonus add-on of the view from the balcony. Outside of tourist areas, trash everywhere. Of course, that never seems to feature in any of these vids. For the bonus freebie, maybe if you're doing Living Overseas, you do multi-parts. This one can be cost of living while another deals with visas and length of stay while another concerns having fun crossing street, etc. Now if you all you care about is the side money from KZitem then don't bother. I say that not to be mean, but instead because as sure as the earth rotates, a not insignificant number of your viewers got all enthralled, then they found out, living there means 90 days at a time unless....and so on. 90 days isn't living there, it's being a tourist.

@paulhicks7387
25 күн бұрын
@@ocmanga5685 I have a whole other plan. 90 days in Viet Nam on an e-visa, then Thailand for 60 days visa exempt. Could extend for another 30 days for 1800/1900 baht, but that's close to the airfare to Malaysia, so no extension but instead Malaysia, 90 days visa exempt. Will cycle that. Will mean more moving around, more airfare, less possessions, short term instead of long term rental, etc., but not married to a Viet nor desire to be, too old for a work permit, so it's 90 days, and I don't want to have prove, yearly, my monthly income plus the 90 day reports (both for Thailand). Would be great if both Thailand and Viet Nam would go with something like a US B-2 visa and not be hard on 180 days. Then would just cycle those two, back and forth. Less travelling and for as many as not, the 180 days would be long term and so a lower rent. That would be all sweetness and light. Oh, and Hua Hin to finally upgrade their airport, since that is where I'd be, and would be nice to fly there direct.
@paulhicks7387

@@Jules-nv4ht Perhaps 5-7 working days, but more time if you apply reasonably close to or during Tet (never apply during Tet, since off for roughly a week). Can apply in country, via your computer or phone, but you will need to use a VPN (make sure that your VPN is set to outside of Vietnam). Also, do not use an address in Vietnam as your permanent address. Put your address in Vietnam in the space asking for the address where you will be staying in Vietnam once admitted on your e-visa. If you have family or friends in the US, speak to them and ask them if you can use their address as your permanent address on your e-visa app. Or you can use a visa agent in Vietnam, you will pay, of course, and most also offer a border run via their bus/minibus, which you pay for as well. Some do the border run leaving early in the morning and then back home late afternoon/early evening. Also, depending on how long you stay, what does one do for money? If in the US, well, folks always mention Charles Schwab, which works well if one still resides in the US. If one does not and Schwab finds out, account closure. If one resides in the US before one leaves, and does not want to risk Schwab account closure, then USAA and/or Navy FCU since while not as good as Schwab they too reimburse ATM fees up to a certain amount monthly and they don't care that you are not living in the US. Also helps to have a Wise account, and to have their card before one is in Vietnam, since Wise will not mail a card to Vietnam. Otherwise cannot open an account in a bank in Vietnam on an e-visa. And if you are not a US resident, two phones. One your US phone, except to avoid having to pay an absurd amount, turn the roaming off. You only turn the roaming on when you need do the authentication by typing in the code in the text message sent to you by your bank, etc. Do that then roaming off again. You use your local phone for everything else. I replied to the one other soul as well, since my first plan was to fly to BKK (Bangkok) and then back, say, every 90 days a weekend in Bangkok. Then I decided to do the 90 days in Vietnam, then 60 days visa exempt in Thailand, then 90 days visa exempt in Malaysia. And cycle that. I'd do a Thai non-O visa, except I don't want to be bothered with having to prove my monthly income every year and I am not a felon on parole and so never mind the 90 day reports. Just need to have enough cash on hand, each entry, each country, to show that I will not be a burden. Lastly, the plan is to alternate in Vietnam, one time Da Nang, next time Nha Trang. Thailand will be Hua Hin. Malaysia is undecided. Never been Malaysia, tourist to Thailand and Viet Nam one time each. For one more, if you have more specific questions, sign on with Expats. com and on the Vietnam forum can ask Aidan in HCMC and/or Ocean Beach. Aidan is always helping someone with their e-visa app. One comes with a problem, Aidan offers a solution. The human comes back to report all is now good. Ocean Beach is the human to ask re the visa agent in Da Nang.

4:40 If you are older consider NOT driving a bike. Scooter traffic in Vietnam is legendary and dangerous. One crash and you are unable to walk. Those are for the young. Get a car or take car taxis.

I just had a dental treatment there, in Bien Hoa, 30 km ride from Ho Chi Minh city. The cost was low, the quality was high, many dentists have American post grad training. For the same medic practical years, VNmese dentests have usually more experience than their American counterparts since in VN the medical practitioners usially work 8 hrs in hospitals + 3 hrs in their private clinics, 6 days a wk is the norm if not 7. Denists hrly pay rate is astronomically high in the US. Many American dentists are reluctant to spend more time with their patient. While in VN, especially when you're a western expat, many VN dentist & their assistants are willingly spend more time with you.

@@terrymckenzie8786 Hi Terry, do they have a 4 on 1 dental implants? It's 4 implants with denture included, it can be permanent denture or removable. I appreciate your help and can you also ad the dental clinic name. I'm also from Canada and the price is rediculous and the US as well. Mexico is a little better but not a lot. Thanks!

Many Vietnamese living in the US go to Vietnam just for this. And by the admission of Vietnamese-American dentists in the US (including many who graduated from top US schools of dentistry), the work in Vietnam is mostly high-quality at an unbelievable price.

@lienlienchan, Sorry I wasn't very clear in my introduction summary. $880 is the total monthly cost. Rent for a small apartment is easily under $300.

Why do people who make videos about expat living in Vietnam NEVER say anything about healthcare costs (and quality of healthcare)? How much does private health insurance cost (typically)? What exactly do the available plans cover? Do the doctors (and dentists) usually speak English?
