This is a traditional Vietnamese Hmong mountain village house in Sapa Vietnam. These days the roofs are made of zinc instead of pumu wood. Logging has been made illegal and the pumu tree is facing extinction. The floor is concrete instead of earth as it is more hygienic. The family is hosting us and is in the process of preparing dinner. They sacrificed two chickens to serve guests, usually, they do not eat meat every day. Hmong people prefer to cook their meals with the open stove using wood rather than a gas stove. The family does have a gas stove in the kitchen extension.
