Actually isopods do not have a nervous system that fires neurons back to the brain. So while cutting them up would cause a reaction they do not feel pain and as such this is humane. Isopods are the most primitive life forms on the planet and they consist of a basic brain and system but they know nothing other than to eat and mate.
