I got a good laugh out of "the math is not mathing" because not long ago when I was completing my final math courses, I adopted your phrase "make it make sense" when I couldn't trace back the solutions of assignments. Calling a pair sneaker of the year too early could just be search engine optimization, same like calling a pair a must-have. Just another tactic for clicks and to get your attention. Or we may have ran out of words to describe sneakers. Another argument for slow consumption in a fast-paced culture!
@TalksWithTJ

I love it lol make it make sense is something I wish phrased long ago when I was in undergrad for Calc 2 because working backwards was always a struggle. I think it does speak to us running out of words, because everything isn't a must have nor iconic. I think slowing down consumption helps reel in our thoughts, perspective and true feelings behind anything purchased in this buy-buy-buy culture.

In addition to calling cap on SOTY and brand pandering, youtubers still being surprised that pairs are sitting at this point is telling of the current climate. On the other hand as a newer sneaker head I am enjoying the current buyers market aspect and wide availability of kicks that would usually be difficult to obtain.

Calling every sneaker released SOTY (especially in the early half of the year) for shock value definitely seem like an over worked sales pitch lol totally agree on that. SOTY shouldn’t be considered until at least half the year in my opinion. I got the futura Dunks and think they’re really dope. I wish everyone would calm down, everywhere. I think it has merit if some have it as a contender. It's new, it had a lot of actual excitement tied to something people experienced in the NBA playoffs and Ant's great season. I see people rocking them out up and down my TLs. I think a shoe being worn in its explicit purpose has to be respected also, it's a performance shoe so people are performing in them, rarely anyone performs in Jordan 3s or 4s on the court anymore.

Tbh i wanted the Futura SB really bad it was one of the few i wanted but after taking a L and really seeing the shoe for what it is. It's nothing super crazy the art is dope for sure but the materials and totality of the collab is minimal. Tbh i would say the Di'orr Greenwood SB High that came out recently is the best SB so far, we've gotten from the materials to the tons of details on the shoe like 3M behind all the stars on the toe box and swoosh, the 3M Stitching for the constellation. The Great materials and just representing something pretty cool overall culture wise.

Many of these “Creators & Viewers” are soooo lame. They are pushing their own enthusiasm onto the viewers. The truth for me is. I’m not sure why I don’t care as much as I have over the last 10 years! I think their enthusiasm showing over a pair is quite alright, I think them telling someone they need something because of now they feel about a pair of where it could become a problem for viewers. And don't feel bad that you can't quite identify what things feel different. Completely agree on the SOTY analysis, it’s gotten watered down and we don’t know what will have staying power until the end of the year. However, I disagree that canvas cheapens or diminishes the value of the Futura dunks or Nina Chanel 3s. I love both artists but it would cost (hundreds of) thousands to purchase any of their work. So being able to wear their art on foot for a couple hundred is a deal. I also respect both for providing those that love art but may not have the income to acquire it a way to get the art. The use of canvas for both of the shoes seems intentional given canvas is the medium for so many painters and artists.
@TalksWithTJ
3 ай бұрын
The canvas selection isn't a knock on the artist, as stated it makes sense as artists they chose canvas. From a lasting perspective and cost for those purchasing the sneakers in the grand scope of sneakers in general, it may not hold the same value in materials as a $225 collab on another Jordan 3.

Trash or heat is subjective. I think wanting someone to feel one way or another because you do, no matter who you may be, isn't the move. It's why I will say how do you feel about a shoe? And not we, because we don't need to see the shoe the same.

I feel that way for the 3s definitely however those futura labs dunks, straight fire in my eyes. I do agree that we should be holding influencers accountable I feel like because their audiences are so big that they can be part of creating false hype sometimes. Ill liken it to the crypto community. A lot of times influences will promote a crypto that they have a lot of and a huge financial stake in so that their followers will do the same in turn raising the value. I think sometimes these influences might be sitting on quite a bit of stock and say hmmmm if I wanna get rid of these I might as well try to up the value artificially with my opinions so that its easier to make some profit on
@TalksWithTJ
3 ай бұрын
I can see that perspective. Not all creators are resellers however (although many of us will sell older pairs we don't wear anymore like anyone else), I think we have to remember with influence comes some accountability. Crypto is a world where people definitely have stake in coins, and then we know that rug pulls happen once the hype is built and someone cashes out.

Most probably overhyped like the Futura (at least for me) to me it should be a new thing, something really different that has the community talking for example the AE1.
