Welcome, better late than never. Industrial capitalism ended with WW1. We now live in financial capitalism - the economic rent seekers have won. Industrialists long ago knew that state provided public services avoided monopoly rent & so were less of a burden on their workers, lowering costs. Industrial capitalism was on the road to socialism. Rich men did not like that so they flipped the script to Neoclassical Neoliberalism, which is now a religion where all non believers are excommunicated from society. Search for videos with Michael Hudson - he has just done a 2hr longform on The DemystifySci Podcast on YT.

Yes China has much bigger ambitions in the Middle East but I think not only economically but a comprehensive future. Various phases of Belt and Road projects ongoing in the world. The Middle East is unique because it holds key portions of oil and gas which China will need until 2050 while rich Arab countries are perfect partners for China to export and develop its technologies. The Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 is a first project to include present Chinese technologies of 5G, solar energy, digital economy, EV, charging stations, trains and subways, logistics, manufacturing. They will be big customers of Chinese planes too. Then there will be future techs of AI, robotics, flying cars and other breakthroughs. One prize of the Ukraine War for the US was sabotaging EU-China trade. They blew up the Nordstream to weaken German industries which have been doing well with China. As the war prolonged they raised interest rates to push German factories to relocate to the US with subsidies. All along the military industrial complex made billions in oil prices, commodities, weapon sales, confiscating Russian assets, and capturing investment funds leaving Europe. It’s highly suspicious that the US has similar purpose in the Israel conflict, to sabotage or at least disrupt to slow down its developments. Even the motive of the Hamas attack is questionable. Was it autonomous or was it staged? With China and Russia already engaged with their Arab friends, they will purposely not give the US some wars that it seeks. So far the only thing the US could do to provoke more wars is genocide even the world condemns it. It’s horrible times but pleasing to watch the US empire as it falls.

The reality of the US position is always made clear by their vetoes at the UN. This is a US war. All wars are US wars now. The preferred method is the proxy war with just a few boots on the ground - the decision to go proxy was made in 2006 after the disaster of Iraq - Hersh wrote about it in 2007. The US provides weapons, ammo, intel, etc, to Ukraine, so Ukraine men fight till the last Ukrainian. US supplies the bombs, Israel drops them. Plausible deniability. Same in Syria, where ISIS, the Kurds & even Hamas were the proxies. Don't be fooled by the proxy, the US is at war with the world.

Vijay Prashad is one of the most important intellectuals on the Left. Always so great to hear his takes on the geopolitics and socialism. Perhaps, Indian poverty and social despair are so great compared to other Asian countries (even the Russian Far East and Siberia which are thriving) because Patriarchy and misogyny there are the most severe. Which is so sad considering that they still practice the ancient Goddess religion.
@IndiaGlobalLeft

We have no doubt that a large part of Indian poverty is tied to the vicious patriarchy in India. Women own very little land, their labor force participation in paid work is low and even declining recently, they get less nutrition within the family and so on. These are over and above a general culture of sexism and misogyny that disempowers women psychologically.

Saying "nations" is shabby. It's the capitalists and their government lackeys. Which Arab nation in their majority supports "Israel"? Please never forget to employ class analysis. Arab "leaders" are just the top kapos.
