Thanks for your review Simon. I was undecided as to what to purchase until i watched your review. So glad i did. I bought it and i'm amaized at the quality, versatility and value for money of this little gem. It's great for birding, wildlife, astronomy and just general fun viewing. Cant understand why more people aren't raving about it. I'll give my fellow Viking optic users a smug knowing nod next time I'm out. Keep up the good work 😊

Thanks for this useful review Simon, but I would like to know more about how the Swallow performs at higher magnifications and longer distances, and also in low light conditions.

Great review Mr McCabe, could've done with one of those the other day with an Indigo Bunting having a scrap with other birds in my garden here in Scotland. I had the predecessor to that scope and was amazed at the quality, have had a play with the Swallow scope too and it surpasses the old one by a long shot. Cant believe the quality for the price these days. For years I've been lugging 'round a pair of Carl Zeiss Jenna Octarem 8x50 bins, which though pretty state of the art in their day are totally outmatched by less expensive modern optics. Apart from the build quality and optics I also liked how light the spotting scopes were, though they take up a bit of room in a bag there is very little noticeable weight; which leaves weight for more sandwiches. :-) Those camera mounts are pretty awesome too, was surprised when a friend showed me some shots she took and that they were with her phone. Hope to see some more from you soon, always enjoy your output

Thanks mate! Great words of encouragement. Viking do some really nice products. They're made, well designed to the top spec and basically, for the money, you can't go wrong. You can obviously buy bigger and, loosely speaking, higher grade of optic but you'll pay for it. Viking's experience in the market allows them to sell at reasonable prices but still maintain the quality. Will have to get up to Scotland at some point and do a vlog on the mountains.

Your video gave me the confidence to get one of these and you are spot on - for the price it’s an amazing piece of kit. I just realised it also has a sliding lens shade - normally only found on expensive scopes. Fantastic video review - thank you!

A very misleading video, your screen shot shows the Viking 12x36x50 yet in the video your showing one of the more expensive models, very disappointed.

I don't have any other scope bar the Swallow?? People need to think before they post as the world's poisonous enough without hot trolls putting the efforts of others down. Shame on you Dave.

Shame on you Simon , it’s like me showing a screenshot of a mini and doing a video about a Rolls Royce 😂😂😂very over the top response to my comment, I actually own the 12x36x50 Viking scope so I know it’s a decent scope😄

@@BigDDaavvee Are you talking about the quality of my recording setup through the scope?? If so, I'm using an e-adaptor mount with my Sony A7iii shot in 4k with crop. The result is amazing (obviously not a patch on my primes lens on the camera) but still excellent. I'm using the best I have to record with the ultimate shortest distance to get enough light through the scope and clarity of subject. I haven't used the other scopes as I don't need them. This said, I obviously don't need to use scopes in field as I have large zoom lense BUT I was just demonstrating the best the scope could acheive. I thought your response was rude and, like most trolls (now I beleive you're not a troll by the way), was unfounded. A question would've been the right approach rather than an accusation.
