Clive really is like Travis's big brother in interviews. Very cool how he can carry the interviews knowing that Travis is not comfortable with opening up. He is always very informative as well. Clive never takes over, he waits for a silent signal...they already have a 'silent body lanquage' going on, like brothers. Great teamwork guys

Hasn't done as much homework as Travis Fimmel, it would seem. Travis was right about women in those societies. They mostly stayed and defended their homes and farms whilst their husbands raided. While it was an obvious benefit for women to be strong in such a climate, it was very rare that women would go raiding or participate significantly in offensive acts of war. There are exceptions, and they are noteworthy because they are exceptions. Whilst there is argument to be had that they had a 'good justice system' and relatively equal rights for their time, you can by no means say they met anything close to today's standards. By the look on Fimmel's face when Standen overplays the societal achievements of a people he refers to as "vikings", I would guess he knows that to.

In between Rollo, Kievan Rus and the famed Varangian Guard in Byzantium, ancient Scandinavians heavily intermixed with large swaths of the European and Near East populations. Us modern Scandinavians really can not claim "ownership" of the Vikings alone. A great many people in the world today are linked to them, even if they have no direct connection left to today's Nordic countries or culture.

Clive expresses his opinions a lot more clearly and in a articulate way where people would stop and pay attention , and having someone like him around , you would probably feel comfortable leading interviews and maybe feel insecure around to because it can be intimidating teamed up with someone as articulate as him knowing you're not like that, would make you want to hold back. I'm sure if there was 3 or more or just himself , he would of felt more comfortable. He isn't an articulate guy but that isn't all that defines intelligence. Hope to see much more of Fimmel+Standen soon as both not only work the screen very fine but seem to be great persons too - "The Baytown Outlaws" with Fimmel was a treat, easily better than all Rodriguez+Tarantino did since the 90's. +Osirian Legacy I think maybe he researched a little more than Clive. At around 6:30 Travis was spot on in questioning Clive's statement. The vast majority of raiders were men. Most women actually did stay to defend and care for their homes, livestock and children. There were always rivalries between viking factions, their land always needed protection. In a way women helped serve a more important and potentially more dangerous role in Viking raids. When Vikings attempted to migrate however, plenty of women came with their husbands and undoubtedly fought against locals.

Why is everyone saying that Travis is shy? He just does'nt really give a f**k about that interview and is chilling. As you can see, hes not as informed as Clive is, but he is simply bored.

because ppl are ignorant simpletons that only know how to judge and critique..hence why travis would prefer being on a farm away from humans

Travis is so sophisticated I can't.... I know damn straight he smart... He's got the money and talent.... It's the way he hides it that fascinates the living lights out of me.... Till this day he still hasn't changed... His meekness and humility are as loud and distracting as his looks.... He's the Kinda guy who's in a group of smart popular loud friends then he be the smart, popular, hot silent one.

I wonder how someone like Fimmel decides to be an actor. He clearly is uncomfortable opening up and doesn’t seem to love interviews, it’s very visible here with Clive next to him (who seems to be able to pick up where Travis gets uncomfortable and that’s when he jumps in), and yet he delivers such raw emotion on all fronts when he’s on the show, which requires the actor to be vulnerable. A very strange combination, which somehow gave me one of my favorite TV characters of all time.

contrasting characters on screen and off screen. fantastic casting for vikings. definitely have a huge crush on travis and clive standen is adorable the way he talks so sincerely and he definitely does not shy away from the limelight. travis is the opposite with a laidback and rugged air around him.

I can see the pain in Travis' eyes whenever Clive starts talking historical nonsense. Women would very rarely have been raiders or soldiers. Mostly settlers when trying to colonise. Women (and the elderly and adolescents) were supposed to defend and tend to the homes and farms whilst their husbands were raiding. So yes, generally it was a benefit for women to be strong, but they usually stayed at home, with a few notable exceptions. The reason they are notable is because they truly are exceptions to a general rule.
