This is the story of Muhammad Shreef Gujjar from Village Digiana in the Jammu in the Indian side of Kashmir now. He was more then of twelve years a helping hand in the family before of Partition of India was announced in 1947. He said peoples of Punjab started to migrate before they left their village and when the time come, it was very hard. they were asked to gave away any weapon if they have, for doing that they will not be harmed and few suspected that and few soldiers were among them ,but they could not do any thing. they were encircled and girls and women were being picked from the caravan and men were being killed, his own aunt was taken away and father was killed and he was asked their last drink of water. when a man appeared and asked about his grandfather name. His mother replied i am his daughter and he is killed so he took them to his home and gave them milk to drink and at evening they rode horse along with his son and one more man to escort them to Pakistan and he crossed the border and now settled at Sialkot after being pushed from place to place and the home he found was torched and it was very hard to rebuilt it. when he served in the Pakistan Railway and later posted to Sialkot as Store man, he served and retired yet he could not built its upper portion and leading his life as it can be. his wife died and his sons are working. He has visited his home town twice and was very welcome and he told me that his uncles went back to India after the partition and they are well of there at Digiana.
I am Muhammad Sarfraz, recording stories of 1947. Preserving statements of eyewitnesses of events took place during partition and migration.
