Vince kept Shawn Michaels on the payroll from 1998 to 2002 who stopped wrestling and was dealing with drug issues at the time, but Bret was in the wrong according to Vince

Time hasn’t shown that Vince made the right decision? You’re pathetic, you’re honestly pathetic. Shawn Michaels came back from his injury and wrestled another eight years. Had a fantastic career and now runs NXT init’s most successful era. Brett Hart, an old nasty person that was overrated his whole career. You’re honestly pathetic for writing this.

The Montreal Screw Job came diwn to one thing, an impass on 2 "long standing traditions". One tradition was Bret doing the "honours" before leaving the company, the other was Shawn's being gracious in regards to Bret doing said "honours" for him on the way out. Bret was initially willing to do the honours until Shawn disrespected Bret with the statement "Thanks, but I wouldn't do it for you.". Shawn was wrong, and Vince should have sided with Bret and allowed hin to drop the belt to somebody else in Ottawa the next night.

Shawn Michaels wrestled 36 times between "losing his smile" in Feb 1997 and "retiring" in March 1998.

But yet, had the money for Mike Tyson to appear at WrestleMania for $5 million dollars but Bret was making $1.5 million dollars a year

Mike Tyson brought eyes to Wrestlemania that Bret couldn't. Bret was a major wrestling star and an obvious draw for wrestling fans. Mike Tyson in 1998 was an intrigue for people who wouldn't necessarily watch wrestling. I think ultimately Vince was right to push the boat out and get Mike here.

1997 Bret Hart was one of the best heels of all time. His promos were fire and he had a great influence on the Attitude Era. Had Bret stayed it would have been 💰for WWF. McMahon chose wrong, and lied about it.

Vince sided with Shawn then Shawn put on the worst match possible in his loss to Austin and left.

It was nowhere near the worst match. Not quite the kind of great match we had come to expect from Shawn but still pretty good.

@@412StepUp That's what I would have guessed. It's a bit misleading of a title nowadays due to Bret and Vince being on better terms. But the interview is good to watch back
