I disagree with how you’ve dated some of the jewelry and it’s findings. Before you instruct others, make sure you do your research. I’ve been a dealer for 30 years. You say some earrings are 1930 when they are actually 1940-50s. The 1930d earrings are more likely 1980s.

Sadly, not a lot of accurate information here. Try '"adjustable tension clip backs". 30s?? Nope. Wrong again. I stopped watching after that. No reliable info here.

Hi there! I have just started watching your videos and they are EXTREMELY helpful. There was one particular necklace that was bezel set with the black stone and gold. Is that from the forties? And approx how much would you value that? Can't wait to watch more!

You can own Ivory if it comes from Native Americans and you have a document showing they sold it to you. I bought an engraved necklace from a Native American Store in Puyallup, WA. Also the older engraved things that may have been made on whaling ships, that type of thing may be allowed, depends on the aging. The purpose is to stop the killing of elephants for tusks.

Exactly. However its hard to find the proof of where it originally came from for the documentation to be issued. There are beautiful engraved wale bones out there that are vintage as well.

How do you clean your jewelry.

Hello! I appreciate you reaching out! For vintage jewelry you should be very careful! ESPECIALLY if it is costume jewelry. The stones on costume jewelry have foil backings to them which, if too wet or hit with any type of chemical, can flake away and devalue the item. I suggest a toothbrush, very low pressure, and water.

The Swarovski prong set rhinestone earrings are most likely late 50’s or 60’s. The Aurora borealis coating on the smaller rhinestones dates these after 1955.

It is pronounced "Coy-ze-nay" I always slip up because I used to call it the other way before I learned the right way. Sorry for the confusion! 🤦♀️😁

I heard you can sell ivory as long as it was made way back when.
@creativeuniques6180

From my knowledge you have to have it registered. This is backed by the Auction professors suggestion. Even if you get an appraisal doesn't mean you can sell it. There are places you can donate it to that do art however, even to have it you have to look into seeing if your taxed in your state to sell/own it. Any type of documentation of being able to sell it however, please do send it along!! I would love to not craft my ivory for my art! Thank you for bringing this to my awareness!! I appreciate it so much!!

Is there any type of "evaluation" of jewelry for a small fee rather than paying for a full appraisal? I have a bunch of jewelry from Asian designers and I have no idea if the jade pieces I have are natural, dyed, jadeite or nephrite! Lol I think the pearls are real and vintage but I don't know if they are Akoya, fresh water, or whatever! Lol there's a ring I think it's citrine. I just need someone to confirm whether my jewels are fine or costume.... Is there any jeweler out there like this??

Well, Dr. Lori will do unlimited appraisal for $300 for 2 weeks. Thats the best deal I have found for my bulk jewelry! If you think about it, I deal in most costume but literally 4 to 6 pieces could value at $300 and after the 2 weeks i probably got over 400 items appraised! As for pearls, both cultured pearls and natural pearls will fluoresce with a black light. They look bright compared to faux pearls. Some costume jewelry would use a Florencent bead however the weight is different. It will weigh more if its real. Also they will almost be perfectly round however u will find, if you look closely, they have very small differences in shape from one another but could difficult to see. They also, especially pearls from Japan, have knots in between each one. They will also lay flat with no tension differences that cause it to not lay flat on the neck unless whoever owned them, got them restrung and they weren't restrung by someone of knowledge on pearls. To confirm if a jade is genuine, it is generally struck with hammer. Original jade will rebound the equipment that hits it. However I dont advise you do that to already carved jewelry of course. Lol nephrite is more milky colored. Hope this helps! Take care!
