For comments about the music- I feel ya! However- some of the original audio in the Disneyland Background triggered the KZitem copyright bots. Rather than have silent video, I overlaid some copyright-free music to compensate/blur the audio. I really wish it ALL was original background sounds and music- but KZitem ain't havin' it. Sorry about that! 😀

I was 9 years old back in '88 but this is pretty much how I remember Disneyland too. My family only went once a year so it had been a big thing. I shake my head seeing that line for Star Tours as I remember seeing it in person at that time and how it took so long and seeing the posted signs of "One hour from this point" or something similar and bemoaning the wait. Then there had been the dinner's we would eat at that one place on Main Street. I can't recall the name but if I remember right it was towards the right side of Cinderella's Castle/Tomorrowland and it was a buffet like line. The Autopia in both Tomorrowland and Fantasyland were among my favorites and I loved going on the Monorail. For some reason the whole Mission to Mars thing terrified me even though we never went on it but I never liked the idea of going on it. Space Mountain was the other big line wait job and I remember thinking it was lucky if the line started just after going up that ramp. Of course leaving it my parents always had to steer me away from the arcade which I always attempted to make a beeline towards. The Skyway was odd as I was half terrified of being up high but still interested in seeing how the park looked from up there but I always found arriving at the stations fascination with that big rotating wheel pulling on the cables. Fun times and fun memories.

This was Disneyland at its best...it has only gone downhill since then. Furthermore, I believe this time slice of Disneyland is the epitome of Walt’s vision. Too bad wrong executives got into power to ruin it. The idea to build DCA was ludicrous (California within California???). I think most people would have preferred to just enlarge the park and keep one admission fee. Disney Corporation, “Tear Down that Berlin Wall”... in the central plaza and unite! What I would do (if I could): Re-build the Peoplemover to travel through the entire double park area, with off-on stations scattered in a few key locations. Build an elevated motorized walkway above the conjoined park, from Harbor Blvd with the admission gates, trams, and extending to Downtown Disney and hotels. It can be done, using some of Walt’s wisdom.

No tatoos? Slimmer? Boy, someone's memories of the past certainly got "Disneyfied". Or perhaps you were simply fortunate enough to grow up with the 'privilege" of experiencing American pax suburbia as Walt himself always envisioned it. Good for you.:-D

@@RikoJAmado I didn't say that no one had tattoos in 1988, but it wasn't fashionable back then for middle class people to have ink. My point was that today's DL demographic are now "fats and tats", unlike in 1988. You can try to gaslight me all you want, but the video shows that it was different back then.

I love this... but is the music necessary? (cringe face)... The video is spectacular as if a time machine with original sounds. I know music helps to keep us engaged etc but just hearing the sounds of back then, I think, would be stellar. More of an ambiance than a filler. Sorry :) but I love this subscription

I totally get where you are coming from... however the original tape had popping noises, degraded audio, and sometimes total silence. While I was able to save the parade music (thank goodness) the rest of the tape just wasn't happening. So- an imperfect solution. In any case, thank you for watching and subscribing. I really appreciate it! :)

Oh such good memories. I lived 4 miles away and a basic pass was well worth getting. They were open till 1 am on Sunday nights all year so you could go ride everything. Seemed to be a little known fact so it wasn't crowded. Back then if you came late, the parking was clearing out and it was easy to park right by the entry gates. That Disneyland is gone forever but I'm grateful to have experienced it

@@jeffdeutsch Yes I remember well. I was 11. The shrinking effect fooled me for a while, but I figured out the little figures were not real people. Either that or my dad told me. I was still confused about where the riders went once they entered the microscope. That is until we went in and I felt a sharp left turn.

Great video! Love the background music. My first trip to Disneyland was in 1994 so a lot of this Disneyland was still there when I visited for the first time.. In 1996 I moved from Massachusetts to Los Angeles where I lived for 20 years before relocating back to MA in 2015. Although I get back to SoCal at least once a year with my daughters who were born in Los Angeles, I do miss being able to drive 30 minutes south for a visit whenever I wanted. Keep up the great work!
