@@button4631 I have had plenty of outlets on my stoves here in the U.S, but it was the old old ones, I bought a very nice vintage stove from an elderly lady who was moving for $25 !! and it had a deep well, two large and one small burners an outlet, a clock and a small hood over the clock with a light in it and dials that was painted apple green! and a large enough space between the burners in the middle to set an electric griddle etc, that it also had two ovens and a large drawer, I cried real tears when we moved years later and I had to sell it as it was way to big for my new house.........

My Mom had an old Westinghouse when I was a little kid that had an outlet like that. It also had a recessed cooking kettle, not unlike the one found on a Chambers. I also remember that it no longer worked and she always just used the pot that came with it on the burner.

My Sunbeam Egg cooker is almost exactly what you have. Look to see if there is a shell piercing needle inside the top cover. You pierce the wide bottom, and place the eggs narrow side down, you may be able to add a 6th egg, as mine does, by placing it in the middle of the the 5 other eggs. You can use any temp egg, as the water steams, and condenses on colder eggs. The unit shuts off once the water is totally evaporated in the unit. That's how you get soft, medium, and hard eggs. It all depends on how much water you add.

Hi Lacy, so glad Johnny Cash is back home! Also I have the modern version of this. When you poke the hole in your egg it goes hole side up in the machine. Cute gadget! If you want to make more than five at a time, you can use a regular pot with a steamer basket. I use an inch of water, add the eggs from the fridge when the water comes to the boil, cover and steam for 12 minutes, then cool in an ice bath for 10 minutes, peel and enjoy. I’ve done up to 18 at a time in a stock pot and it’s so much more efficient than boiling, plus they’re so much easier to peel. I love deviled eggs too and will have to try the recipe. Love your whole aesthetic and keep up the good work.

There is no timer as these, like rice cookers, work on thermostats. The temp of the cooking surface cannot go above around 212 F until all the water in it has evaporated. The manufacturer uses this fun science fact to calculate how how water it would take to keep steam n water in the cooker until the rice/eggs are cooked. That is why most have different water recommendations for different amounts of rice/eggs. For instance, if it takes 10 minutes to cook 6 eggs, they just calculate how much water the cooker can evaporate into steam in 10 minutes and voila, that’s how many oz/ml needed to cook 6 eggs. Love the videos, very calming voice, great attitude towards life, and always a dozen smiles! God bless

I have always called them "Angel-ed" eggs (especially at Easter!). When I first met my daughter in law, she said her mother called them that too! Seems we dont want to "devil" our eggs. 😁 I put dried minced onion flakes in mine. The onion flavor without the crunch. Onion powder is good too. When I do want a little crunch, a spoonful of dill pickle relish goes in. A spoonful of pickle brine always goes in too. Its just enough added kick. - and a sliced olive on top!🙂

I have the modern equivalent of this gadget (cuisinart egg central) and I literally use it at least once a week to make hard boiled eggs for salads. I do put a hole in my eggs as the little plastic cup I have has a pin built into the bottom. I believe the metal plate senses when the water is gone and shuts off (mine beeps when done and has to be flipped off manually) so I put a little vinegar into the base while its still hot to clean out any residue and then let it sit. By the time I am done peeling the eggs, I just swipe a sponge around the base and rinse it. It's kept the plate like new even though I've had it for almost 5 years. It's also very easy to clean without any scrubbing this way.
