The repro windscreens look great. It is a common misconception that contemporary toys are less durable than vintage ones. Usually it is the opposite, but it's a shame that you can't disassemble them anymore. It was a good thing having the opportunity to unscrew and fix everything.

Nice work on this! I've always wanted the Super Powers Batmobile! Maybe someday! I wanted to thank you for putting free Sticker files for Playmobil's GE5P and XY6 robots on your site! I recently printed them out, and spruced up my two GE5Ps --one had no stickers at all, and the other needed a few bits. I also FINALLY got my hands on an XY6 robot! I got him from Greece, of all places! He was in nice condition, and even came with his rayguy-thingee, but he was completely devoid of stickers! So, your website saved the day! The stickers printed out very nicely, and I now have them proudly on display in my studio!

Hey Dave! It's good to see you doing a restoration video on the beautiful Super Powers Batmobile. A couple of years ago, I acquired one of those through eBay & had the same problems that your Batmobile has. The back mechanism from the car that traps the action figures was not working, the front part was not working either and had other issues. I took it apart and restored the broken bits. After a good cleaning and fixing, I proceed it to get replacement parts for the car because it was missing a few. I did a good job with it and quickly I put my Batman and Robin in it. I sold it after two years. I regret doing it & now, I'm searching for another one to display with my figs.

Great work a really enjoyable video i love the time lapse music combination it keeps me watching instead of fast forwarding to just see the end product a comparison shot at 5he end would be good And I think you deserve a special thankyou for your decal work and making those resources freely available i watched your video on space ranger repairs and was very impressed. Keep up the good work the people who have given you grief in the past should fell ashamed the alternative to repair is throwing old toys in landfill which is bad for planet and that history is then lost.

I was hoping the rear batclaw wouldve been broken on yours. I see that as a problem with many batmobiles. It's an easy fix but takes a unique spring. I had to buy another beaten up batmobile to get that spring,but now I want to fix that one also.

@toypolloi Just a simple question, why did you wash the car before taking it apart? Wouldn't it be easier/better to dismantle the car first then wash the separate parts? 🤔
@toypolloi
Жыл бұрын
Only if you plan to fully disassemble it. Often the fixes don't require the whole toy to be taken apart. Also it's nicer to start with a clean ish toy. You can do it whichever way you prefer.

Is there a technical reason why old toy stickers are made of dots and not solid colours? did they print in CMYK and have to create other colours by mixing the dots?

Interesting how the Batman figure looks almost identical to the 1989 movie version but with a different paint job, and the 1989 Batmobile toy used a similar gear stick lever to operate the rocket launchers on the hood of the car. Quite good design from the makers too as it makes sense having the activation lever in the cockpit rather than a button on the back of the car.

The wheels will pull off with a bit of twisting I would guess. Then either straighten the axel if you can, or get some replacement metal rods that are the same thickness.
