Okay, hear me out -- the big grey collar is an homage to 17th century lace collars and the paintbrush is a nod to the great Dutch painters of the time. Imagine the conversation! "I went to the Rijksmuseum this weekend and it got me thinking how can we honor the Golden Age of Dutch painting with our knitting?" "Oh, I know! How about a giant knitted ruff but we stick a paintbrush in it instead of a brooch?" "Oh, yes, I'm sure everyone will understand our sophisticated cultural reference and not think that the model looks ridiculous."

Thank you for a lovely trip down the more eccentric sections of memory lane. I think the big thing about the latter 1960s and the 1970s was that people wanted to experiment with new ideas. Some of the ideas worked and some, perhaps, didn't.

Loved the silly pictures. What a throwback! I was born in 1970 so all those vintage magazines fall right within the range of what I remember perusing with my mother and grandmother. I remember even then, we’d some times think “fun but… nope.” Or: “What the heck are they THINKING?” Especially about the models and poses. Thanks for the laughs. I’m already looking forward to what you’re going to come up with next!

Yesterday found a box knitting/crochet patterns been looking for since moved here 15 years ago. Some are from 1930! The hats are insane and the knit suits are sized for anorexic children. Found the pattern I wanted in Better Homes and gardens from October 1977 which was cover and googleable. I wore the cowl looser and probably shorter, sleeves were 3/4 no cuff. Sucker was acrylic and so warm didn't need coat pithed it in 2005 as was fatter than good fit. Found directions that came with tabard kit from 70s and strted knitting it in alpaca (remember have a lot) so not trendy but good layering piece going ing and out of heart. Whole book of bedspreads...no way but remember seeing some at great aunt's. Made me feel connected here in Illinois albeit ancient.

Well, I am also apparently "vintage" and I'm not sure I'm okay with that? 🤔😵💫😅 I just taught some drop spindlers, spinners? spindle spinners? (help?? 🤷♀what is a good term...what do we like?) about plying bracelets over the weekend! Thank you Jente for introducing them to me. But now I must ask - do you ever chain ply on the fly with your spindles? I know you like the supported ones more, and chain ply on the fly needs a little "nubbin" to hold onto the loop. So it just got me thinking if you do it or not!

oh that was funny. that huge big collar with the paintbrush - I immediately pictured one of those angry lizards that blows up its neck collar, and then, those jurassic rhino type creatures in Avatar - its like " don't touch my paintbrush ! I will get angry" and *woeffff* up jumps your enormous collar. And the genuinely angry red hat girl and her sister picking her nose - I snortd with laughter - BUT as funny as these pictures were, isn't it nice to see adverts that are not all about sex and huge butts and boobs and bored, bad attitude, anorexic models pretending to eat an olive pit with huge pouty fish lips that are covered in sticky scratchy blue glitter, wearing only a black jumper that looks like its been fed thru a corn harvesting machine and it only costs $5000, because its made from sustainable (?) organic (?) palm fronds harvested in the borneo jungles by pygmy children (no animals harmed in the process). sorry for the loooong message, its been raining here for 5 days - I've got cabin fever 😂😂

This is an insulting and irrelevant video. Your mocking is very sad. Your modern designs that charge outrageous prices for their patterns go through patterns going back into the 60s and copy the patterns that you are mocking. You are making fun of patterns thatt are selling for $12 on ravelry. Grow up!
@MijnWolden
4 ай бұрын
Hi, I feel like there has been a misunderstanding. I am not maliciously mocking vintage patterns. The reason why I have so many is because I love them and love knitting them. You will never hear me say modern patterns are better. However, I wanted to have some lighthearted Fun looking at the staging of these pictures. If that isn't for you, that's ok. Also, I believe growing up is optional.
