StarGeek I've never seen the show thus far but don't feel bad for that "vintage" Falcon in Stranger Things that keeps getting dropped. Vintage my ass. The thruster assembly on the back of the Falcon on the original Kenner toy was just some stickers stuck onto white plastic with red engine details instead of blue. The Falcon in the clip you showed has the clear plastic assembly in back that lights up blue when a button is pressed. I believe that version is the 1995 Power of the Force II Falcon. That and the multicolor paint scheme on the toy are a dead giveaway. Now, they are cast from the same molds so it's a reasonable facsimile, but for a show that prides itself on its "80's nostalgia" and details they got this one blatantly wrong. I get why they would use a newer toy that doesn't have the value of the original for a prop, but if I was the property master on that show I would have repainted it to look like the old toy and printed stickers out for the thruster assembly. They could have done it in less than 2 hours. I call that lazy. As a filmmaker and Star Wars fan, details like this annoy me. I guess it's the thought that counts. Nitpicking for sure, but would you expect anything less from a Star Wars fan?

Great series btw. Just found it. I have all 107 issues plus the 3 annuals and many collected reprints. I grew up reading them off the comic racks. In those days that was about the only EU we had before the Zahn trilogy (aside from a few books and radio dramas). I would love for a series that delves into these comics. But, how about an episode of the 3 issue 3D Star Wars comic series by Blackthorne? To date I've only ever been able to snag a first issue but those other 2 remain M.I.A. from my collection. I think it would be interesting because hardly anyone ever talks about them. Everybody is at least aware of the comics from Marvel and Darkhorse but few know of the short lived Blackthorne series. I believe they picked the license up from Marvel when Marvel let it go and as I understand these 3 comics were to help celebrate Star Wars' 10th anniversary, as issue #1 was released in Dec 1987 with the other 2 comics released the following year. www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=287491

The most important thing, for those of us that bought this comic when it was NEW, is that THERE WAS NO VCR or VHS tape of Star Wars in 1977. This was our only way of watching the movie over and over.

I had that 1st Star Wars comic when I was a kid. Always thought it was strange that comic story didn't exactly follow the movie. And some of the drawings were pretty bad, like @1:49 how Luke Skywalker looks more like Brian Mulroney, lol.

The first video I discovered on your channel, and you knocked it out of the park. Marvel Star Wars #1 (and #18) were my very first pieces of Star Wars spin-off material. As a result, I knew the art and layout of those two issues better than any other Star Wars comic in my (now massive) collection. In the 90s and early 2000s, I was able to obtain the entire run for a decent price, thanks to eBay. I'm looking forward to more of your reviews, especially since I plan on finally delving into all 108 issues this year.

OH GOD! Please Star Geek... YOU MUST CONTINUE THESE REVIEWS!!! If for no other reason than to finally prove that Disney DID MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION to make the Expanded Universe Canon... I used to read the Marvel Comics when I was young... Including the series between Star Wars and Empire! (They just wanted to make more money and Star Wars sold!!!) - And BOY did they come up with some DOOZY Storylines... No one beleieves me when I say that there were some really insane Stories in teh Marvel Comics that... While the EU was in effect WERE CANON!!!

I've not seen these comics in nearly 40 years! However, in the UK, the original movie comic series was over 12 issues, not 6, but the content seems the same. It's amazing how looking at them here brought the old memories right back, especially the art work. I remember at the time being annoyed at how the ship's didn't look right compared to the movie, especially the star destroyers. great video, let's have more please ! :)

Thanks of watching! In the UK, they took the American comics and split them up into four parts, (with the film adaptation the comics were split into 2 parts) so they could be released weekly rather than monthly. It's actually a pretty great system. It allowed UK readers to get comics more often, and gave them a LOT more covers, most of them fantastic.

I am a big fan of the Star Wars series. I like your well written reviews. I think the best issue of the series is #47, "Droid World", an Artoo/C3PO solo adventure that features lots of great robots and an enigmatic cyborg character that is only seen here and, sadly, never again. "Droid World" was also adapted to a storybook and 45 rpm record set. The later series, as you've eluded to is not as interesting as the pre-Empire stuff. After Jedi the series read more like Star Trek and the constant presence of Ewoks and telepathic bunnies was uninspired.

StarGeek oh... So you changed your opinion since your TFA review! In that video you said that it was only second to Empire, well... That's cool! Opinions change, you know 😃 originally TFA was my fourth favorite Star Wars film 'cause I didn't want to accept that I liked a film more than any film in the Original Trilogy, but I quickly changed my mind swapping Jedi and TFA, making J.J.'s film third in my list, and after watching the movie eight times at the theater (like BB-8, you know... 😂) I realized what my true opinion is, and since then, despite what people might say, I think that The Force Awakens is the best motion picture ever! It's cool to see how your opinion has changed too, that means I'm not the only one that constantly changes his mind 😂😂😂.
