That's hilarious ! That's a bike seller close to Munich here in germany and still exist ! That bike has come a long way mate ! To the rear hub situation , sorry this washer suppose to be there for sure because it is part of the rubber seal but what is a common mistake that people use the wrong tool ! Yeah sounds stupid but it is that way , there are two tools one is the casette remover tool (old style screw on ) and one to remove the lockring and the one for the old style casette is just a bit smaller bro. In the end I have to admit that those type of casettes were always a bit tricky to remove but there is a tool from shimano that has a center pin for this situation ! Have fun mate !

This one is sweet. Do you still have the drill press? It might have helped with the seat clamp. I'm still working on converting my 1986 Miyata to 1x9, but it's slow-going. I was going to do a 2x, but it was getting too complicated. The problem I'm having now is that I had downtube shifters, but the non-standard mount for them, and trying to find the conversion to cable stops for it is impossible. I have to make something, but I don't really have the skills for that. Probably have to go with a clamp-on style.

I have the freehub disassembly tool and its not that expensive. Just needed some filing though for the notches as they werent super precise to fit fully into the lockring part. $5 five years ago however it came on the slow boat from overseas and took a month. I use Phil's tenacious oil for the bearings however heard that 90w gear oil or chainsaw bar oil will work. Both are quite cheaper and you get 3-4x more thans Phil's and i will try either or when i run out.

Crazy how a bike end up on the other side of the world, would love to know its story. We have quite a lot of wheeler bikes over here in Germany, going to pick up a 6600 hybrid on Monday. BTW I'd recommend chain lube for the freehub there's a second race with bearings on the inside, if you can't do a rebuild it's probably best to really flood it with lube.

I still dont fully understand the point of a tensioner on a single speed. if the chain is tight shouldnt you not need one? I have no experience and am just curious.
@garysprojects
5 ай бұрын
Most single speeds these days have horizontal drop outs which allows you to pull the wheel back to tension the chain. This bike has vertical dropouts so you can’t pull the wheel back. The tensioner helps keep the chain in place without it being too loose. Hope that makes sense !

@juanfo7307

@@garysprojects a real true singlespeed is only 2 sprockets and chain. With a tensioner you achieve the worst of both worlds. With the added complexity of the tensioner you might as well be running a derailleour. At the same time the tensioner removes the elegant simplicity esthetic of the singlespeed. Anyone can build a singlespeed with a tensioner. Only the one true singlespeed master can possess the advanced skills perfectly honed to create a properly functioning singlespeed without a tensioner. This is art we are creating and like Michelangelo's David or Sistine Chapel not only transportation but the pinnacle of human expression. I mean a tensioner is taking the easy way out like climbing Everest with the aid of supplemental oxygen or swimming with a flotation enhancement device. A tensioner is singlespeed blasphemy, an aberration.
