Perfect! I think my ratbike is the one I find myself riding most of all. Very satisfying seeing all that rust come off, that thing will run for decades to come. I definitely wouldn't paint it - the patches of sanded bare metal look amazing and a bit of protection should stop them corroding again. Also the thumbshifters look far better where you've put them. Nice fix with the re-spacing and dishing the rear wheel.

red_dread thanks man appreciate it! Definitely super fun to ride, and it’s great not to have to worry about wrecking it haha 😂 also pretty sure no one is going to want to steal a bike that is all “scratched” up 👽

@@garysprojects My ratbike is older, heavier and rougher than yours, but I still have the fear of thieves every time I leave it anywhere. It's a sad fact of bike ownership.

red_dread hahah yeah I feel you. I used to live in NYC and you basically could never leave it out of sight. In Australia I feel safer having it locked up but I get what you mean, the thought is always there, I always take off the lights/accessories now after someone stole a bike cable/strap I had on the bike lolll 🤦♂️

I have the Trailbreaker 1, but as a female the pole thing between the seat and handlebars is too far away for my torso. Can you shorten the top pole thing? I was thinking no, but maybe you can get a handlebar holder that doesn't stick out as far? Sorry for not using the correct bike part lingo lol. Ive had the bike for 20 years and it's been great, but just recently it feels like the handlebars are too far away, and I only feel comfortable when Im standing on the pedals
@garysprojects
3 жыл бұрын
Yep this is what I recommend - shorter stem - sweeping handlebars That will make your “reach” a lot shorter and put you in more of an upright position. Hope that helps cheers!

Sean Bate thanks for watching! Yep I sure did. The crank tool I have has a hex socket on one side as well (to take off the hex bolt before I remove the crank), so all I need is a spanner 👍
