I have this receiver and it does have great sound quality. It is a large and very heavy unit.

We have it running at 402 vinyl and paired with CS-99As...it's audio bliss :)

I used a 4 track reel to reel with mine and i loved it. When you have a different channel speaker in each corner you can really feel like your right in the center of the recording.

I've not had the opportunity to listen to quad sound.

I have never seen that QX-9900. My only quad gear is a QC-800A preamp. Those are pretty rare also.

They are definitely a sleeper sound-wise. Very warm sounding receiver.

I was just listening to mine this morning. I only run it in the 2-channel mode about 85 watts a channel since there is no quad media. Mine had a lot of crackle and pops from a hand full of bad transistors (20?) I had to replace. They are harder to work on since you have to maintain 4 amps (instead of 2) boards which are hard to service. I really like it and bought it new long ago in the 70's.

Was listening to this particular unit down at the shop today, paired with some Pioneer CS 99As. That pairing is just about perfect.

@beechpilot57 He just said all that in the video. Hard to service. Double the parts. Also, it’s 60 WPC. Not 85. 40 in 4 channel mode, 60 in 2. Do you just comment on videos without watching them?
