The 1984 trademark under the foot is for the Ghostbusters IP, as that's the release year of the original film. The RGB cartoon and toys started coming out in 1986/87.
@unclemattsworkbench6667

That makes perfect sense. I was a little confused before your explanation. 1984 didn't seem right to me because they came out after I put my toys aside. In 1984, I was still playing with toys. By 87 I was doing other things.

I did wince a bit when you used the screwdriver on the rubber. Sharp angled edges of the driverpossibly tearing the rubber. I have some stainless steel sculpting tools which some have a lot smoother rounder edges on. But you obviously have practiced your method a lot. Well done. He definitely looks a lot brighter.

What a great result, peroxide does wonders, but small correction - you say in the video that it's 40 percent peroxide but, as stated on the bottle, it's actually 40 volume which translates into 12%. You can't buy 40% hydrogen peroxide over the counter.

since the toy is made of vinyl you can use hot water or even better a blow dryer on hot to make the vinyl more pliable so it will come apart easier and wont risk it splitting. its definitely better to heat up the vinyl on an older fig like this so it doesnt split.

There were two different types of rubber used. The older ones, which I am pretty sure is the one you refurbed, dry out and crack quicker.The one I had as a kit lost his hand because of it. I got another one later, and he was made of that more durable, pliable rubber. As always, outstanding work, Dave!!

Id recommend you build a UV tank set up. Very easy and pretty cheap to do. You can get a cheap fish tank from amazon for around £20, and a couple of 50w UV floodlights. You dont have to worry about the UK weather then and using 12% HP you can de-yellow badly yellowed toys in hours. The vinyl is probably harder on the yellowed one due to the weathering. Some rubbers stiffen up, others turn chewing gummy!!! For the paints, as you seem to be using Vallejo paints more often now (they are great), if your only applying with a brush you can mix the clear coat in with the colour (mixing them and airbrushing will clog up) and it really strengthens the bond, as your not using a primer it helps prevent flaking, feathering later on down the road.

There is an easier way to reattach vinyl appendages . . . 1st - place the parts with nobs in the freezer; 2nd - heat the parts with the holes with a hair dryer until it is "squishy soft"; and 3rd insert knob in hole. You use less brute force and less chance parts will be damaged. Just ask ANY Godzilla collector and they will confirm this method!
@tanaskoviak
3 жыл бұрын
Just how the HECK do I reattach Godzilla’s Tail? You may be asking why I sent your Bandai Creations Figurine in two (2) pieces. Well, I did this to ensure that it fit in the box FLAT with appropriate packing so you receive an unbroken figurine. Okay, now that that is clear, you are asking just how the HECK to I reattach the tail? Follow the steps below and your figurine will be whole again! 1. Place the TAIL in the freezer until the plastic is rigid (should be no more than 10 - 15 minutes). While the tail is stiffening . . . 2. Heat the TAIL RECESS (i.e., HOLE) with a hair dryer until the plastic is flexible (should be no more than 5 minutes until you reach the technical term “squishy soft”) . . . 3. Once the TAIL is rigid and the TAIL RECESS is soft, insert TAIL and twist until it is seated properly. To remove the tail, heat the tail junction until it is “squish-soft” and remove the tail! ENJOY!
