Love the electro plating aspect of this , Thats more science in 15 mins than I paid attention to during 3 years of senior school 😂

I recommend dabbing the Molotow into a small paint tray and using a brush to apply it. It results in a smoother finish.

Very cool. I traded most of my Transformers for G.I. Joe figures when I was a kid, but I always regretted not hanging on to Soundwave and his cassettes. Really fun toys.

My God! I found this toy when i was a kid and I never knew what it was. I still have it, in the same condition i found it. When i found it had no paint on it except for the words japan that were barely visible and nothing else. You helped clarify a mystery about the tail too. I guess the one I found was broken because yours has a long tail. That’s a 30 year mystery finally cleared. No I never saw transformers as a child

Glad you can still get 'Brasso'. I used to quite like the smell, but I expect changes to the formulation over the years, have altered that. I used to use it to clean my bike wheels and chrome parts with. Never thought to use it on die-cast, though. Excellent.

@@travisash8180 - That is so odd. I was at home the other day, making myself some lunch, when a variant of that, popped unbidden, into my mind, and made me laugh. Viz: 'So shine up your buckles with Brasso, It's only five pennies a tin, You can buy it at Woolies for thruppence, But I don't think they've got any in.'

I was going to suggest paint until I looked at my Buzzsaw, it's really more of foiling job there and I don't know if a paint job would do the trick. Maybe a gold/bronze colored sticker cut to size? It'd be fiddly as all heck to cut properly.

I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your toy repairing videos. I don’t know if you have ever collected any of the Captain Power and the Soldier’s of the Future action figures, vehicles, and playsets but I’m in the middle of restoring my Major Hawk Masterson action figure. He’s missing some chrome on his chest and thanks to you Im now using a liquid chrome pen to bring my figure back to his former glory. The figure also comes with a solid plastic pair of wings that clip on to the figure using two small pegs that attach to a pair of small holes on his back. One of the pegs are missing and I think I’m going to try and find a LEGO piece to replace the missing peg. Again because of your ingenuity I now know that LEGO is the go to for repairs of this nature. Thank you so much for sharing all of your tips, tricks, and general toy knowledge repair! This was also a great video and I look forward to seeing the next one! Cheers!

Mr. Wizard or Toy-Polloi? This was great! Awesome fix. I believe that the plating on Ravage's legs and the chrome on his weapon came off due to a battery that decomposed where the toy was stored.

I think you are correct about the battery acid being the cause of this. Certainly smells like that.

my legs on astrotrain keep falling down so have taken it to bits and trying some nail varnish on the plastic joints inside to stiffen them up a bit, you need to push out the pins on the wings to get to the other 2 screws on the back to remove the legs lucky mine pushed out easy , also got some plastic weld on the way for another job that super glue wont fix.

The US has a similar product called Nevr-Dull, that still comes as treated wadding in a can. Usually in most hardware stores, sometimes in larger groceries (for polishing silverplate cutlery & serving pieces.) It, too, has a very distinct odor.

Toy Polloi I did see a guy who managed to load some of this paint into a spray gun to spray models, and then clear coated it without it damaging the sheen. So that’s an idea, extremely even coating and with a protective layer so it won’t ever dull.
