I was thinking, screwdrivers need sharpening and re-shaping, then , you brought out special jig! First time I've seen one, never knew they existed, what a fantastic tool. Watchmakers have some great tools that could be scaled for general purpose (not sure if I mentioned, I was a motorcycle mechanic and precision turner/machinist before retirement) I'm going to do some drawings and make one, I have some 150x75x20mm thick stainless steel and various aluminium blocks. Have to finish a few other projects first though. You get some great 'toys' to play with, the case holder looks like it could be useful when I do carburettor repairs and modifications. Oh, about micrometers, me too, bought my first Moore & Wright 0-1" in 1974, still have it in 'toolmakers chest' but it hasn't been calibrated since 1996. I use it to check standards for the other 'workshop' mics. I subscribed as I''m still fascinated by mechanical stuff and having camera mounted on microscope makes it a lot more interesting to me.

Thanks for this comment! Yes, the concepts all do scale, and one nice thing about watchmaking is that even though there are a lot of tools most of them are quite small! This is great when it's just a hobby and space is limited!

I love this kind of content buddy this is the attention to detail and knowledge that the watchmakers have taken to the grave, it shows how deep watchmaking can go and it’s just the tip of the iceberg, we can all learn something from this which imo is the true meaning of KZitem! 🙏😉

Definitely prefer the speaking versions but still a great video! Not quite sure how exactly the Escapement Meter is supposed to be used but it's a neat piece of kit for sure -- I just hope it loves you back! 😁That new benchtop your daughter helped you make is also very cool. Is that the same daughter that's also a judge? What a multi-talented family! 😲

Thanks Turbo! Yes, Mila is amazing! I just uploaded a more detailed video about the escapement meter that goes more into how it's used with a heater to set pallet fork jewels. kzitem.info/news/bejne/qJppy3adqHOKbKw

@@IMakeWatches Watching now! I love that bobinchak website too -- so much great information on there. Of course you managed to find an escapement meter and heater, I don't know why I am even surprised anymore lol, the obscure watchmaking tools just grow on trees over there. 🤣🤣

I suppose loving a machine is not weird. Being "in love" with a machine is a slippery slope. Will they love you back? (It's not you, it's me…) 😮 and the inevitable, "I'm sorry, you are being replaced by a newer, more sexy machine…" But with that bit of conversational mischief behind us, it was very fun seeing this crazy anchor tool in action! I had no idea how it worked and your demo made it crystal clear.

I agree. I have two of them now, so the idea is to combine the best condition parts into one and then make a second with what remains.

Thanks I agree. It was a great experiment anyway and I'm glad that my wife challenged me to do it. I debated doing a voiceover instead, which would have been easier. But it would also be less dramatic since most viewers wouldn't know the difference. 😂😂😂

@@IMakeWatches You could still do a voice over . Especially the parts using the measuring tools. being silent gives no insight into a very important aspect of the watchmaking process. just my opinion.

Thanks for this comment also. Every video I make I regret because I am not as articulate as I imagine myself to be. It's nice to know that you are forgiving of that and presumably can see that I'm doing my best with what I do know and trying to qualify what I don't (and what I can't remember under the stress of being on camera 😂😂😂).
