@@timelesstravelclub6240 I can imagine and know what it feels like. Air Italia lost my luggage on my honey moon and it had my wedding dress in it. We found it later in some random luggage storage room at the airport. Hardly anyone spoke English. We were lucky. It only took four hours, not three weeks!

Gino Vannelli!!! I saw him on tour at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto back in the late 70s. He was from Montreal and had a big following in Canada back in the day. PS - judging by my 20something kids - vinyl is making a comeback. My son has several collector discs and, so far, doesn't even have a turntable. I guess they are for looking at - not listening to. Anyway, great idea for our next visit to CDMX.

Must have been a great concert back in that time. I understand he still tours. I watched a KZitem video of him and his brother. Of course he uses a real orchestra now but man, he can still sing! Another Canadian find for me was Latin singer Amanda Martínez. I loved her Mexican music and was shocked she was Canadian. BTW vinyl outsold CDs last year. It’s a thing. Please don’t let your awesome son buy a cheapie turntable to play those precious gems with. Haha

@@timelesstravelclub6240 Thanks for mentioning Amanda Martinez - I had never heard of her. I am now a fan. Great music! It looks like most of her concerts are in Ontario - so I will keep my eye out to see if she comes out to BC. Yes, my son recently got a turntable from his sister for his birthday. I helped him assemble it and was amused to see he had zero concept of how it should be put together (my payback for all the times he has treated me like a tech newbie). We are talking - it won't work unless you take the plastic protector off the needle - and those dark lines are the gaps between songs. I am sure you will be horrified to hear the turntable has Bluetooth - no receiver or 30 pound speakers necessary. He was only prepared to open one "collector" disc, so I now have Taylor Swift Midnights memorized. Next stop, a trip to the vintage store. Not sure he is going to find The Weeknd - but ... I hope all is well!

Love that you are into the Vinyls!! My last trip coming from Mexico was a crazy string of flight delays and cancelations that prompted me to take the NEXT flight anywhere North from Mexico City, the next one was to San Francisco so grabbed it and simply took the first shuttle to the hotel zone.. LOL Talk about spontaneity !!!! Next day a walk around the neighborhood found me in a Thrift store district and the most PERFECT Vinyl albums from the 40's--80's you can imagine!! I totally scored about 15 vinyl records in PERFECT condition... not a smudge or scratch on any of them!! My suitcase was VERY heavy going back home to Oregon... LOL Great stuff man! Love your stories! Heading to Mexico in two days... I will be gone till September so who knows what I might find! :)

Oh wow what an experience that must have been. I too stop in thrift stores whenever they are around. Never with the luck you had. Amazing! I try to be the first in line at Estate sales and have had a couple great hauls going that rout. I still love going to record stores but they are either way too expensive or I am not disciplined enough to just walk away. I’m not sure which. Enjoy your trip as it will be a while still for me. Where are you headed?

OMG - one of our subscribers sent me here to watch this video! Another vinyl-loving kindred spirit in Mexico! 🥰 We are being nomadic for 4 years and hitting at least 30 different cities across Mexico, so I had to leave my 1400 records in climate control storage in the US. Once we choose the location in Mexico that we plan to call our permanent home, I need to figure out how to get my collection into Mexico. I have to admit, missing Record Store Day in April hurt my soul a little bit. I don't dare go into any record stores here in Mexico yet, simply because it's hard to not want to buy something and there is no place for us to put those things for now. I also know of at least one of the record stores that you mentioned too because I looked them up to see what the Record Store Day selections have been in Mexico over the last few years to see if they have unique releases. It is TOTALLY all about the hunt!! ~Gina

Hello Gringos! Yes, we are kindred spirits indeed... The love of vinyl AND Mexico?! Although you are slightly ahead of me on record count. I have seen your videos and I am envious of your nomadidness. I have watched some of your Mexico videos here and there. Keep up the good work. I loved my time in Mexico until covid closed me down. But I still post a video here and there and strive to visit more frequently south of the border someday soon. Ever been to Acapulco? Perhaps we can cross paths in an original home away from home for me.

@@timelesstravelclub6240 The key to traveling with a backpack is that you have to do laundry during your trip. I bring folding hangers and just wash the clothes with me in the shower if a laundry isn't available. Socks make good scrubbing mittens :)
