Where do you get that 1in aluminum conduit you just buy a piece of aluminum pipe and cut it yourself?

The standoff sleeve idea is pretty slick but no efforts to seal it from the weather? Did you drill through the sheathing to hit the stud or is it only going through the siding and the insulation board?

BobbyFromNJ we caulked all the way around the sleeve. I guess I don’t know if it’s in the video or not. And it has to be in the studs or the awning would fall down immediately. The insulation and OSB is not strong enough to hold that much weight.

@@wegotyoucoveredoutdoor I know the lags go into studs. I'm asking how deep you hogged out. Does the aluminum sleeve sit agaist the OSB or did you drill clear to the stud?

Sorry I misunderstood yes we take everything out all the way to the stud to make sure we are in the center of the stud and not on one side or the other.

Looks great. The cord issue with some customers i understand. Your install looks great. 1 question. Could you even hide the cord behind the siding itself. The verticle cord from frame down im not sure but maybe the cord behind the bar? Might be too much trouble tho. Just asking. Thanks .. Still Great job.

You could but the hole would have to be as big as the plug. And the plug going through all those layers of siding isn’t worth it for us, we would have to charge for that. If there is a fee then it’s worth it to get an electrician out to put a box there for other lights as well as the awning. And most people don’t want to pay the extra $500 or so for the effort.

Hello..what was the total height of the mount? What was the extended length? Lastly, when extended out, what’s the height from ground to awning?
@wegotyoucoveredoutdoor

Can’t remember on this particular install but a good rule for this 11’6” projection awning would be around 9’6”-10’ tall. And the height from the ground 7’8”-8’2”

Question: So I have 1 1/2" cladmate over my framing. So my idea what to clear to the studs and insert the 1" conduit but for the size I ned which would be 1 3/4" and using longer lag bolts -- likely 5" to mount the brackets. I also thought of reinforcing it by using a 3/4" conduit inside the 1" to make it stronger?

What is the length of the crush sleeve?

Whatever length is from the stud to about an 8th out from the siding. If your lucky they will be the same but walls are never perfect.

We used to get it from Lowe’s but they stopped selling it. We get it from a metal supplier now.

What is the brand of the awning? Also, does it tilt, or was that just part of the installation adjustment?

Won't the conduit bind siding from moving ?

Seems a bit close to that exhaust vent, probably obstructed it. Here in the northeast, that would be a no-no since most dryers are natural gas and not electric. I would weather seal those metal conduits they used as well with some silicone.
