hey Tom, agree completely with you on Donald Byrd, that Ethiopian Nights is my fave also. that Jack Bruce blew me away the first time I heard it, killer. haven't listened to those Codona LP's forever, gonna have to pull them back out for sure. Wow, that Antithesis is really hard to come by, Chris is so cool. really digging Daniels new LP also, so good. just snagged the reissue of that New York Ensemble for a decent price, big time want. that Azar's been on my wantlist for awhile, and that Jordan, NICE! all killer no filler again man, peace, Chris.

Hey Chris! Yeah man I love Byrd's funkier stuff. Yeah man the Antithesis has been on my want list forever as well. Glad you were able to get the East NY for a decent price, I've seen the reissues going up as well the last few years. The Azar Lawrence is damn good, nice mix of soulful spiritual fusion. Thanks!

That Collin Walcott 'Cloud Dance' sounds good. Man what a list of musicians That East New York Ensemble of Music 'At The Helm' sounds great. I love the sound of fusion so I am sure that I will dig that. I would not be able to hear all of the genres like African, Middle Eastern, etc... I actually do not know one from another. The fusion that you mentioned is what I would gravitate to. I have checked out the Ahmad Jamal and it is fantastic. Wow, what a Lesson in Jazz Brother Tom. Your knowledge of jazz has no boundaries. I am going to listen to a few of them now. Enjoy the rest of the weekend T. Always great to see you~ Rob/Boston

Hi Rob, how are you? I think you would dig the Codona stuff or any Collin Walcott stuff since you dig the fusion sound. I know what you mean sometimes it's hard for me to differentiate between the different genres too, especially when they start twisting and blending them together. Have a good weekend brother!

I have Codona Tom. Teddy sent me an amazing package last year. Six jazz albums and one was Codona which I really like. Sitar, talking drums, etc.. It is a beautiful album that sounded very original to me. I will pick up the other volumes sometime soon. Thanks for mentioning it Tom.

Man Tom, solid grip of grails there. The Stanley Cowell and Ahmad Jamal have been stuck on my want list for eternity mainly due to the type of coin they bring. I have a stamped promo of the Nathan Davis I found locally for a steal. On the hunt big time for The Hip Walk and Happy Girl albums. I have realized I am going to need to get a trip to NY in if I am to score any Strata East goodness. Nothing pops up here in the dirty south.

Hey Dave! Yeah bro both the Cowell and Jamal are hard to find unfortunately. Nathan Davis rarely pops up around here so I always jump on them when I see them. If you ever do find yourself coming up to NYC, give me a shout and maybe i'll come down to say hello, i'm not far away.

Hey brother, how are you doing? Glass Bead Games is a must, i'll keep my eye out as well but if I do see it it's always pricey. Yeah I really dig that Cowell like I said in the video probably my favorite solo piano record. I usually do enjoy most of Donald Byrd's output (I don't think i've heard Cat Walk) but I knew this one was different so I sort of waited and i'm glad I did because I didn't pay much for it. The East NY Ensemble was on my grail list for years before it finally popped up, I did have to pay for it but i'm happy to have it.
