I like the advice about noticing process - image, talk or rest, and its location - rather than content, and about allowing wandering and treating each re-focusing as a success.

This is awesome! I have used guided meditation for about thee year, but have had difficulty shutting down the monkey mind, even in my deepest meditation it's blathering on about this, than and the other thing. I never considered "locating" the area from where the chatter comes. This was really fascinating. With the help of this process, I converted it to "whaa whaa whaa", like how Charlie Browns parents sound. Much easier to observe and release it, because it makes no sense. Then in the silence, I can feel my entire brain.. This was really great! I can't wait to try it again tomorrow. Thank you for posting.

Have tried a few others as well, but this was amazing. I also noticed that the images I had were often very distinct from what was happening - rather my images were my stories of what was happening. Specifically, when my breath was going in - I had created a mental image of it flowing through when actually what I was actually feeling was some area of inside of my throat felt touched.

beautiful meditation. internal senses are essential for creative work. Body /sound like to play together in me, so sometimes hard to seperate.

That is excellent. Very well observed. You alread have a good sense of body protection. Positive thinking is very hard when one has bad memories coming up. And it does create an inner fight which is exhausting. Meditation is all about observing versus forcing anything. I am going to do this amazing meditation now every day, I put it on my desk top. Wonderful video. You can also do Vipassana courses for free in person, there are many groups doing this in many locations, all over the Earth.

Thanks a lot for this video, I think it's the first time I sucessfully meditate. I've really appreciate the down to earth talking, wihtout any "mysticism", you know, that exotic vocabulary for a western joe. At some point I felt this weird sensation on my forehead, like if someone was pushing a coin right in the middle of it. Weird, not unpleasant but not really what I'd define as pleasant either. Anyway, thanks a lot !

I have to thank you. This was very good to help me with my daily practice. I do anapana every day and vipassana on body sensations when I've gained enough consentration by anapana (which means I don't even do vipassana every day). This was a new method for me and sometimes it's good to look at other things than sensations since if you look at the same thing all the time you might start doing it as auto pilot and that's not helping very much, this is what's been happening to me. So, thank you!

Either way is plausible. Since negative thoughts will arise, it's a very useful skill to be able to disengage from the thinking and watch the thoughts pass. They lose their power that way. However, wishing loving-kindness towards oneself and the disturbing thoughts is also a viable method. Use whichever works best for you.

Was going good, 20 minutes in I kept getting a "this is boring and useless" sensation that kept reappearing, any suggestions as to how to eradicate/understand this thought process and why it seems to keep coming back? At some points it was almost overwhelming

Hi, if you have negative self-talk for example, should you just observe it without buying into it? I guess thats what thinking process is, to just watch thoughts like a tv, but not buy into them. I have found that affirming positive after negative thoughts make me tired, visual or verbal, it creates thought wars, so Im learning observing, rather than putting emotional energy into thoughts.

Wow, I slipped into a state of calm while I wasn't looking, always happens after a short period of unmindfulness it seems but maybe I had good...concentrating? What is that calm state? It happens the same every time it happens and I wonder if it's just me or if others even know what I'm talking about..
