A wonderful example of intense green Viridine on a Feldspar-Quartz Muscovite matrix from Trikorfo peak in Thasos island in Greece. An Interesting and uncommon specimen. Viridine is the rare Mn variety of Andalusite. Viridine crystals are generally rare, known from few localities worldwide. This material was found in Greece in the summer of 2014 and was an interesting novelty at the Munich 2015 show. Viridine from Thasos is hardly known to the mineral world. Viridine crystallizes in the orthorhombic symmetry system and has a hardness of 7 to 7.5 in the Moss Scale and can be used for lapidary. Thasos Viridine is the finest for the variety worldwide.
