Hey NOOBIFIER, my Question for the MT50 or which ever Throttle you use by now is, are the Throtthle Axis reliable from 0 to 100. With my x52 Pro from time to time the Throttle jumps from 96 to 97. This happened to me also with the g940 HOTAS Setup I had. I Guess it is due to the Sensors having a "in between" problem. But I never found a Throttle which has a 100% precision.

I like my X52 setup personnaly. and created a custom profile for star citizen. In game i use "keyboard advanded" bindings, then in the X52 software, i created a custom profile to bind each joystick button to the appropriate keyboard key. I also used SC mapper to assign the axis and assigns my rudder pedals. I also moded it (removed the afterburner coil thing, magnet mod, zip tied the spring because i prefer a loose joystick. the X52 is good for the number of functions you can bind to it thanks to the 3 modes switch. Also, since it's recognized as a single unit, it's possible to use it in no man sky. (NMS only recognises one controller, and you have to emulate an xbox360 controller... let me know if you want additionnal information) i also bought a pair of TM16000 , but their feeling is bad to me. too stiff. also i prefer the buttons layout of the x52 i am satisfied. i am still bad at aiming, but i train... on a side note : take care of your stuff. my joysticks and pedals are ALWAYS covered by a plastic bag when i dont use them. dust is the worst ennemy of controllers with axis

I dont think that "plastic" has to be a negative. The term "plastic" itself is as wide as "cars" and can be anything between lada and porsche and does not indicate bad quality or shortcomings on its own. Without knowing what kind of "plastic" or composite material is used, an acutal statement about build quality simply can not be made and should not be made in a good review. "Plastic" on its own does not provide any usefull information.
@CallsignVega

Not really. Almost any component made out of aluminum or steel is better than plastic, unless weight is a concern. Which it isn't with a product like this. the ONLY reason plastic is used is it's cheaper.

Excellent information. Love this type of comparison series. I have a Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS Hotas system. I am having difficulty getting Star Citizen to recognize the throttle assembly, not the slider on the joystick. I would like to see a comparison of this Hotas system, if it is not already available. In addition, I would like to see how to properly install, (from removing the Hotas from the box, connecting to the PC, etc.), and setup the keybindings, for use with Star Citizen. I have the Thrustmaster keybindings download; do I need it? I installed it, but I am unsure if it needs to be installed into a specific folder or not. I have not found any videos explaining this process, in relation to the concerns I listed above. I have multiple SSDs in my PC, Star Citizen is installed on one of them and the OS is installed on another. Which in-game control setting do I need to use in order for the game to recognize the throttle? I would like to have the throttle, (and joystick slider), setup for "Forward" and "Reverse" ship movement.

Great video as always, I am finding myself having to disagree with the comment you made on the Warhog. Having done alot of custom scripting on the TARGET interface that comes with the TM products, I consider it to be a unique competitive advantage. To be able to create your own scripts down to the code level allows me to control all TM devices as a single device, and create macros that combine and dynamically change button assignments between controllers. I would like you to cover the software in detail, what options it provides to advanced users that could compare to the TARGET script editor and the features it provides to TM users.

yes, I believe you should take into account that there is a software element that makes us a huge part of the experience of owning a high-end device like this. The ability to share custom scripts with your configuration to be an essential part of owning a highly customizable controller like this. Without having experience with the Vipril software, I can't tell, but having worked on the TARGET custom script interface for a long time I can't see anything beating it. Would you consider doing a detailed review of the software and what it offers to more advanced users ?

This is a great throttle, but it has one downside that was outside the scope of Noobifier1337's review. If you decide to take the tech you've gathered for Star Citizen and try so flight sims, as it is the same gear so why not? You'll find the throttle is missing 1 "vital" control. It has no slew controller. A little analog mini joystick used by combat planes to move targeting around, and to set sensor points. I know it's not a huge thing for SC, but for $400+ I think this throttle should have everything I need to play all games I can that use a throttle. Besides, DCS is pretty fun once you climb the steep learning curve. VKB has said they have a throttle coming soon, you might hold off and look at that one as it looks good, and is planned to be modular. $200 base price with 2 add on modules that add buttons and function at an unspecified price. Virpil has also said they intend to adress the lack of a slew on a future iteration of their throttles.

AAA slew can be on the stick?
@fubarace1027

@@NOOBIFIER1337 Yes, it's location is immaterial so long as there an analog stick to work with. Most planes I "know how to fly" in sims use 4 high hats and a slew on top of the bunch of buttons and switches that help. The high hat universally is used as trim, though DCS has the ability to set a modifier key in game, so dual tasking hats is doable, if not a little unnatural.

So another question. How does the Mode selector work? Is it tied to the software so Only the Virpil software can use it? or does it actually change the input ID of the buttons & switches so that the OS recgonizes it as an entirly new set of buttons that you can assign things to within the game? I ask because, if it is though the software alone, that would require the buttons be pre-assigned in the game itself to say, a keyboard command, and with Star Citizen, id be worried of actually running out of keys to assign. Would rather have game see the different modes itself.

I've settled on 2 sticks and throttle for my setup. The 6D movement makes 2 sticks superior for combat and controlled flight. The traditional throttle/stick HOTAS setup always leaves me lacking for that precision flight when I need it. There is no way to bind strafe left/right, forward/back, up/down with just throttle and stick. Looking at the pictures of the throttle, it looks great. On par with Thrust master warthog. But... Lacks the ability to bind all your strafe movements. The el'cheapo throttle from thrustmaster, that goes with the T16000 at LEAST has one rocker to bind two of your strafe functions, and costs $50? No.. it's not nearly as sweet looking, or smooth, but it does the job and is almost disposable at that price. Thanks for your review Noobifier. Appreciate your professionalism in the review. Any recommendations on a throttle for someone with limited dexterity in the left hand? The quality of this looks outstanding but I’d be hard pressed (pun intended) to make use of all the thumb switches effectively. Maybe on build quality alone this still might be the best option? I’ve learned (disappointingly) that the warthog setup plays on the desire for solid feel without backing it up where it matters. I’m left looking at this throttle and the opposite end of the 16bit spectrum in the TWCS that is supposedly outstanding considering the price.

I hope for some company to come up with a good alternative to that Elgato Stream Deck that also shows up in the video. I find there is much that can be improved on the feel of the buttons.

roccat powergrid + a good custom profile works good to me. I use TCV's profile . join the discord channel to get the beta version compatible with SC 3.2

Could you do a video about the software used to configure the Virpils ? I dont own one but am considering and I keep hearing the software is the big weak spot.

I can, the software is fine, a bit rough and needing some help files. Very dynamic though

Unfortunately I’m left handed and this is of no use to me. Could you do a segment on south paw options?

Hello, I'd really like to hear your thoughts on the binding you'd use or did use with this throttle.

Combat for 3.2 has been underwhelming so sadly, I used it only as a throttle. As they add mechanics, the extra keys will be useful .

Still waiting for the chair mount review you were speaking of. ;) Waiting to get some truck upgrades paid off, then pulling the trigger on a set of sticks and throttle from VirPil.
