My Dad served on the Annapolis Class Destroyers when he was in the Canadian Navy. The Halifax Class Frigates are awesome, with the upgrades a few years ago even more so.

I had the pleasure of working on the Calgary for a refit a number of years ago. It was interesting to say the least.

Interesting armament choice to sacrifice main gun range for improved AA when a Mark 45 5" can also provide AA and 13 nautical mile range (over 9.1nmi), thanks for sharing 👍

Most countries use ships like these for coast guard duties. But not Canada, they use them for naval combat.

@@canadaball9777 Canadians go to war when our friends ask us for help. We don't go around the world spoiling for a fight and looking to make war. (My father was in the RCAF, part of 1.1 million Canadians who wore the uniform ... one out of every ten Canadians. You must be young.)

Had trouble understanding the commentary because of the muffler. Unless your shipmates are infected, why wear a mask for a video tour?

Because there's someone holding a camera in front of him in the confines of a ship.

@@johnt8636, brilliant. Someone he doesn’t know and is clearly a risk of infection? Why would the camera person be permitted aboard, then? This video project must have had every possible clearance, except that one!

@@garywagner2466 My God, do you think they just banged that out in an afternoon? It was planned. The cameraperson is a member of MARPAC. They likely would have been tested before the project started. They would have a mask on, because it's SOP for anyone boarding the ship who isn't a member of the crew, and on any given day there are non-crew members aboard in the form of technicians, inspectors, civilian contractors. The Lt. was wearing a mask because he was working in close proximity to a non-crew member.

@@johnt8636, exactly. The main point of making a video tour is for the public to see what their tax money has paid for. It would have been planned for months. Plenty of time to ensure the film crew had been tested for COVID and cleared for access. Should have been their first requirement. Easy to make the video so THE FUCKING DIALOGUE COULD BE HEARD CLEARLY AND UNMUFFLED BY COMPLETELY USELESS MASKS so the public got their money’s worth. Once again, the navy can’t do even the simplest things right. If the mask was merely virtue-signalling, that’s even dumber. My God, do you think having two videographers on board was an “existential threat?”

I see they've "lost" their freedumb having to wear masks. (Video be better without the music) 😁👍
