Vishnuprayag is the first Panch Prayag of Uttarakhand. Panch Prayag has special importance in Uttarakhand. 5 Prayags of Uttarakhand are as follows, Vishnuprayag, Nandprayag, Karnprayag, Rudraprayag and Devprayag. There are many legends and beliefs associated with these Prayag. And today in this video I am going to tell about Vishnuprayag.
Alaknanda and Dhauliganga are the two rivers that meet at Vishnuprayag. First let's talk about Alaknanda river. Alaknanda river originates from Satopanth glacier. Originating from Satopanth, the Alaknanda River comes to Mana village, where the Saraswati River joins it. Then coming out from here the river Alaknanda comes to Badrinath Dham. From Badrinath Dham via Pandukeshwar and Govindghat, now Alaknanda river reaches Vishnu Prayag where it joins Dhauli Ganga. Alaknanda river is one of the oldest rivers of India, this river has been mentioned in many ancient texts.
Dhauliganga, the second river that comes to Vishnuprayag, originates from Vasudhara Tal, passes through Niti Valley and reaches in a village called Raini. Another river Rishiganga joins the Dhauliganga at Raini village. This is the same Rishiganga which was flooded in February 2021 due to the breaking of a part of the Nanda Devi glacier.
Vishnuprayag is 35 kilometers before Badrinath Dham on Joshimath to Badrinath road.
So this was the first Prayag, hope you liked the visit of Vishnuprayag, see you soon in the second Prayag.
