Situated toward the Southeast of East Falkland, Bleaker Island is a small working organic sheep and cattle farm. The Island itself is roughly 12 miles long, 1 mile at its widest and fairly flat making it an ideal location for clients looking for easy walks with a wealth of diverse accessible wildlife in a relatively small area.
There are 8,000 breeding pairs of King Cormorants close to the main settlement where you can while away the hours observing the young honing their flying skills.
To the North of the island, you can find Sandy Bay home to approximately 3,000 breeding pairs of Gentoo penguins.
Wading through the dense tussac grass at Long Gulch, there’s a small Southern Rockhopper penguin colony (~750 breeding pairs). The habitat also plays host to the endemic Cobb’s Wren, Grass Wren, and of course Tussac birds.
