Dane here, winter swimming is a thing here, alot of people going swimming in the winter. They just clear a part of the water for ice and then go swimming. It should be very healthy, i did it as a kid. 😜

I loved Copenhagen, a bit pricey, but amazing. The food was delicious and people were friendly. Tivoli Gardens was my favorite.

Actually, there are a lot of people swimming all twelve months of the year. Unless the water is frozen.

An American Ambassador to Denmark (Trump), Carla Sands, claimed that all the bikes was because Danes couldn't afford a car! As I suppose the only US Ambassador in later times, she didn't receive a Danish Order, when she left! 😄 Finn. Denmark

I looked up how many households in The US have 1 or more cars vs Denmark , 72% of American households have 1 or more cars, in Denmark it's 69% so not much different when you think about how many use their bike to work about 50% in Copenhagen and other big cities and we have lots of public transportation at least in and around bigger cities , so people can afford cars and many of those people on bikes do have a car, it's simply easier to use the bike because there is a lack of parking spaces in Copenhagen and in old European cities in general , parking is also expensive, a lot also bike because it's their daily exercise, and it's a cultural thing, looking at videos from 80 years ago there is plenty of bikes --- by the way it's always interesting how different people can look at architecture , that area is actually one of the most hated areas by locals the modern areas survey has sowed around 85% (not just in Denmark) prefer old classical wall friendly cities not modern buildings build the past 80-90 years influenced by the Bauhaus movement, I have lived in Copenhagen all my life, and people are always arguing about the ugly modern buildings like the Cactus towers destroying our beautiful city , and if you go to the old parts like Christianshavn, Nyhavn, Holmens kanal, ect. the city is filled with people all year around

Pedestrians and cyclists are very much protected by law. If you as a car driver hit a pedestrian or cyclist, you are very much in the danger zone of a heftig fine or worse. When taking a driving licence, you learn how to predict the situation, and you learn how to avoid creating a dangerous situation. So when you say bicycles rule. It is a kind of correct. Without the bicycles, the public transport would become serious congested. That's also why, snow clearing for bicycles has first priority. In the bigger cities a lot of people dont have a car or not even a driving licence. They don't need it. A car would just be a big, unnecessary expense. The public transport all over the country is good, so you can go where ever you want. Many practice all year swimming. I live in a coastal city, each morning you can see people going to the beach, for a “wakeup” swim. Summer or winter, no problem.
