My bro went to a school in a very remote area in Kinangop. He needed it coz Nairobi schools would have ruined the kid. One of his classmates was never visited coz his family couldn’t afford it. He was my bro’s best friend. Bro told my mom about him and my parents used to take food for both and when they could afford it, they would buy extra shopping for him when they visited my bro. Dunia ni mviringo! After they finished form 4, they went separate ways and as fate would have it, they bumped into each other in Nairobi years later. My bro was desperately looking for employment and the guy told him to go see him the next day at his place of work. Bro was shocked to learn that that kid he helped in high school was now a business owner and he hired my bro with tears in his eyes. He never forgot what my parents did for him! 🙏

I also came from a poor background. My parents never visited me, not even on my prayer day. But of course it never saddened me coz I understood the situation back at home and what gladdened me was that he really struggled to educate me. All really struggled and scored an A- of 80 points in a very small school. Got a scholarship to pursue my higher education and I'm now in JKUAT final year, architectural studies is my thing. God bless mzee Malwa.

Kuenda kupata, ni my shush, siz wangu, aunty wangu na mamangu. Nilifurahi sana. Kwanza kukula chapati na kuku na wakaniachia mia nne. I love you shush, mum and siz
