I (Alice) grew up in the Roanoke, Virginia area. For the first 20 or so years of my life, Roanoke and the surrounding towns was my home. On a recent trip back to visit my mom, I took Jack and my mom to see one of my favorite local attractions when I was a child - Mill Mountain Park. It has a zoo, some mountain trails, a wildflower garden - and the world's largest man-made star!! What's not to love. Originally created by the Roanoke Merchants Association to be a Christmas decoration shining over the city from Mill Mountain during the holiday shopping season of 1949, the star has remained ever since. I looked forward to seeing this park and its attractions whenever an adult would take me as a young child. It was fun to go back and see it again with my mom through an adult's eyes. I am happy I get to share it with KZitem as well. Enjoy! And thanks for watching!
