Thank you so much for your film. I feel very moved by it as my father landed on sword Beach, he served with with the 'Polar Bears' after being with Princess Louise Regiment. He too went to Falaise where they were told to hold the position as long as possible... He died in 2007 in France, where he had retired as he had married a french girl, my mum, at the end of the war. He then went on serving for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, for which he travelled all over Africa and Middle East. A long story...

A very moving tribute to those who landed on Normandy 80 years ago. The number of man who perished that day is so tragic. It brought tears to my eyes. We the people of the world should never forget what took place that day and it started the liberation of Europe and the end of World War Two. Thank You Very Much for the Tribute You Created.

My tears have flowed a lot today. My father fought in WWII under great hardships and trust me when I say we’d better wake up in the United States and FAST. I love our country and I love our allies but I HATE war, necessary as it may seem the cost is great and our younger generations have no clue what any of this even means to our freedoms. Sean, I can’t thank you enough for sharing this today. May we NEVER forget what our veterans did for all of us both here and abroad. We must NEVER forget the greatest generation!!!:):):)

Thank you. I'm from Oregon in the USA and was fortunate enough to travel europe with my classmates in high school. In 1976 Sister John and another teacher took 25 of us for 5 weeks. One place we visited was Normandy and the US cemetary as well as others. It was a profound experience as well as a tour of Dauchau in Germany. There is a feeling that is impossible to describe. Reverance, sorrow, and a kind of odd peace of the soul. I wish to thank all who gave the ultimate price as well as everyone else who stood for freedom. Let us not forget this as we look to bring another leader to the White House. I pray for all the lost souls and those hurting from the war.

His wife died not knowing what really happened to him. His daughter never knew him. It's all very sad and I pray there is never a conflagration like that again. Sean, thank you for this respectful reminder that war comes at a terrible cost. We have my father’s high school graduation program, with some classmates’ status listed as “In Theater.” He was an only son, drafted but sent back home. As a full-time farmer, his occupation was considered critical for the war effort. Everyone’s food was rationed to support the war. The people are so thin in the photo albums. One aunt’s fiancé was accused of being a spy. (Do you remember the saying, “Loose lips sink ships?”) Returning family military members did not talk of their experiences but were haunted by them. An uncle was a field medic who spent some time in a mental hospital after returning. Others became alcoholics. My husband’s aunt is a widow of two WW2 veterans. She said their dreams of the war made them cry at night for the rest of their lives. May all those souls rest in peace.
