This week I made a trip to the Twisted Memorial to meet some storm chasers I grew up as a kid watching storm chasers to admire but never meet after doing some stuff Monday and Tuesday visiting Oklahoma on my way heading back home to Texas.
It was time I made a visit for the first time to the Twistex Memorial where Tim Samaras, Carl Young and Paul Samaras were buried after the May 31st, 2013 tornado that killed the main 3 chasers of the Twistex Team.
Summary: On May 31, 2013, an EF3 tornado hit the central Oklahoma town of El Reno. The El Reno tornado was the strongest ever recorded, with wind speeds reaching 296 mph and a record-breaking 2.6-mile width. The tornado was part of a more extensive storm system that had produced several other tornadoes across the Midwest.
May the team rest in peace.
