McCarthy, the pinnacle of a real Alaska adventure. Of all places you can drive to I think McCarthy and surrounding areas solidify the real Alaskan experience. You feel the ruggedness and history in the landscape. Did Bonanza about 20 years ago and didn't have a camera. And yes, it's tough!! This helped me refresh my memory of the epic scenery up there. The weather gods smile upon you guys. This was more than awesome and glad you were able to experience it in it's entirety and show everyone else the majestic grandeur along the way. And the bear encounter, cherry on top. 😎

Oh my goodness, this is the video we have been waiting to see. I was sad at first that all of your videos did not come out prior to our Alaska trip but it has been so much fun seeing you in places that we visited. I am amazed at all of the information both of you can deliver without using notes. Your historical explanations are excellent. Kona is living her best life, especially in this last adventure. Thank you for all of the work that it takes to produce these videos. It must be fun for you to relive the experience again and again. You got to see Denali and the beautiful mountain ranges in Kennecott. It was raining ice pellets when we were on the glacier but I was so excited about being on a glacier that I didn't care at all. It was stunning to see those mountains today in your video. Thanks again and safe travels!

My bucket list has doubled in size since I started watching your videos! Love your entire Alaska series as well as your whole journey to Alaska, and what a way to cap it off. I’m looking forward to what you guys do next. There’s no shortage of outdoor adventure content on KZitem, but your channel is absolutely one of the finest out there. The cinematography is gorgeous and the construction of your videos is engaging and always tells a fun story, but what really makes you guys stand out is just how genuinely enthusiastic and real you are. You’re hilarious, you provide gobs of useful information, you’re obviously very curious about the places you visit beyond just a superficial level, you’re honest about when things are challenging/scary, and above all your warmth and kindness shines through in each of your videos. I can tell you’re great people and you’re the kind of travelers I aspire to be. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!

We each rode our own motorcycles, Harley Touring Bikes, with our little dog Clyde riding along, all the way up the Al-Can to Fairbanks and down to Anchorage this summer ourselves. Seems we were just a couple weeks ahead of you on the road. We thoroughly enjoy your videos, you two come across as so genuine and seem to be really enjoying the trips. The Kennecot Mines were awesome to see. Certainly one of the images that comes to mind when I hear Alaska. I really felt for you guys with the bear sighting, one thing when you're in a car, or you're not caught off guard, and even more scary when you're not sure if it was a black brown bear or a grizz! Kona did well not to freak out over it! 🙌 Much like you guys, I was loving the footage of all the local dogs, but that black, brown and white one when you started eating was stunning!!! Really liked this getting see hiking trails through mines. Hiking with history sewn in and always pretty awesome!

If they 100% go through with the appeal, we thankfully have a blog where we can still provide tons of national park info! We hope they’ll at least consider making a more affordable and easier permit process for KZitemrs, as we would totally pay to film there, but the current process is too intense for our type of filming. Either way, we will mostly be exploring outside of the national parks next year and there are so many incredible places to explore beyond them (which tend to be less busy too)!

WOW! Another great presentation. Some of my most memorable times were spent working and recreating there. In a place this small, one tends to know 'everybody', be that the Potato owners and their history, or former co-workers who created their own visitor-related businesses. You just can't beat 'all the dogs' who hang out there and get along with one another, while their owners are having a meal at The Potato or have a drink at the McCarthy Lodge, which also offers Open Mic on Thursdays. And Bears? I've never met more of those polite neighbors anywhere else than there.

Been here for 5 years and Kennicott is hands down my favorite place (so far 😉). When we went in 2018 the road was so bad we rarely could go over 20mph and it made the drive take way longer than it should 😅 it was kind of a spur of the moment decision to go so we also had no idea what we were doing and were not prepared at all if anything bad had happened. Really glad to see that the road is better! Hoping to go back soon! ❤

Finally finished your Alaska series. What an incredible trip and what an incredible job you did producing those videos! The scenery speaks for itself but effort you put forth to make them absolutely shows. They are so well planned out but it’s the little details like all the establishing shots and B-roll takes them to next level. Congrats on that amazing journey through the Last Frontier and again these videos were beyond excellent. I went to Alaska in 2015 and that trip was a mixed bag for me. My dad was going with family and they were doing the trip through a tour group. The cost for me to join was so low, I couldn’t pass it up. It was an Inner Passage Cruise and a week inland. The cruise was great and I thoroughly enjoyed that as we stopped at Skagway, Icy Straight, Juneau, and Sitka. The inland portion was a big let down. I didn’t enjoy the stops and it is just not how I like to travel. We went to Denali and did a bus tour but it only went to like Mile 16 or so. I was like what the heck, this is all we are going to see of the park. Travel all the way to Alaska and only spend a few hours in the park. I view the trip as time I was able to spend with my dad and share our experience of seeing Alaska. Alaska was stunning and I can’t wait to return but on my terms. I actually think I was in Wrangell-St. Elias too but I don’t count it. On the cruise they took us to view the Hubbard Glacier, and I believe that is within the park’s boundaries. I was able to see it calving which was an incredible sight.

So glad you guys did not have an issue with the bear. Your videos are incredible. There is sio much to learn from how you craft your videos. When we were visiting with the Park Rangers in Denali, they told us generally bears and moose will avoid humans. The one thing that will change that is a dog. Bears and Moose think all dogs are wolves. I asked is that true for a 3lb Biewer Terrier and 8lb Maltese and the ranger said to the bear and moose, they see them as wolves. Bear and moose usually will attack a lone "wolf". We know that that we are more informed now for when we will take our two dogs out with us when you head to Alaska in 2024. I am not trying to scare you, I am trying to share the knowledge we learned on our two week scouting trip October 2022.

A great thing about Alaska is there is almost always incredible scenery just from the road. You can see mountains, rivers, forest, and many glaciers just driving from place to place! Dogs are allowed on the shuttles to and from Kennecott...we learned this as soon as we got back 😂

Glad you didn't have a close up bear encounter. Park Junkie did in one video, its scary to watch. Good to make noise but not to the point of upsetting it.

I assume you didn't get eaten by the bear. You msy not know this but to female rangers were killed by a black bear about 10 years ago. Very close to where you were.

YES!!! This is the video I was waiting for! Now that I've had two months to think back on my time in Alaska, Wrangell-St. Elias and the whole area around it sticks out as my favorite region. I loved every minute I spent there. Highlights for me: 1) watching older rangers at the visitor's center who once opposed the founding of the park in 1980, now helping people enjoy it, 2) the Meatza Wagon salmon BLTs (yum!), 3) managing to drive a Hyundai Elantra in and out on the McCarthy Road (like y'all said, it wasn't that bad), 4) going on the mill tour and seeing all the equipment left over from the 1930s, 5) the Blue Pool on Root Glacier, and watching people plunge into it, and 6) the Gakona Lodge just north of Glenallen where you don't get a room key when you stay there because they don't lock doors around there! (And why should they?) The whole area is super special. Out of your 14 Alaska episodes, I think I overlapped with a good chunk of 8 of them, which is not too shabby for 10 days in the state. Thank you for helping me relive it - and plan what to do next time!

We are constantly impressed by how much you squeezed into your trip! You crushed it! It's mind blowing how much you did in 10 days. Just the driving takes so long! We wish we could've seen the Blue Pool and mayyybe jumped in (probably not) 😂 We'll try the Meatza Wagon next time! We're glad we can share our adventures and you can relive yours! What an epic place Alaska is!

Thank you! But I can't tell you how impressed I am by how much *you've* seen in the past four years, and the quality with which you've documented it! Brisket has been everywhere from Alaska to Miami, and from San Diego to eastern Maine. It doesn't seem so long ago you were only at 20 national parks! My Blue Pool story amused people on the shuttle back to McCarthy. I had been shooed off earlier by a tour group, so I came back, but someone was doing a plunge. As I was waiting, they starting doing a post-plunge swimsuit photoshoot. Once I realized I was looking like a creeper in the background, I made sure to scurry out of there! I do not want to be on the Gram as the "Root Creeper"! Meatza Wagon assured me the salmon was Copper River salmon. Good enough reason to go back! There really is nothing like Alaska! I made sure not to hike anything for a few weeks afterward just to avoid feeling bored on the trail. Thankfully for you, Yukon and BC are decent approximations.

It is pretty wild to think about all the places we've been. We don't stop to reflect on it enough. Brisket just crossed 99k miles today! haha that is funny! Yes you don't want to be the "Root Creeper!" Yum! That's a good point!

She likely would've been fine walking on her paws. It's plenty coarse enough. And microspikes are ABSOLUTELY FINE to use to walk about on Root Glacier. We got them at an REI in Fairbanks and it was perfect.

Thanks for the Alaska Adventure. I've never been to Alaska and I enjoyed being with the 3 of you. As always, your videos are entertaining from start to finish. I couldn't imagine constructing the mines and living in the harsh winter months. N.E. OHIO is harsh enough for me. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️

I follow you guys and your adventures and love all that you do. I especially loved your trip to Alaska. We are using so many of your suggestions for hikes, coffee shops and restaurants, as we head to the Kenia peninsula and Wrangle St.Elias. We leave Memorial Weekend for 2weeks and can hardly wait. We don’t have a van but we are camping and staying in a couple B&B’s. Thank you for ALL your hard work that you put into these videos and the research you do. We are in our 60’s - young at heart and in good shape, esp for our age. Watching you and all your adventures has inspired us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
