Actually the reason is because "Function" is used when you are returning a value. For example: Private Function() Return 5 End Function While a Sub is like "void" in other programming languages where you don't need to return a value.

Because it's not a function. From what I gather so far, a function is something somewhat static that you cannot change. Like a function that multiplies 100 * 4 = 400, and it's always going to be 400 when you call it, but with this private sub, you can interact with it.

Not everyone is giving up, some people like myself are probably cherry picking which videos to watch. I'm not making any WinForm applications as a Web Developer so I'm missing quite a lot of the videos out as they're not relevant to me at this point.

Hello Mister, i've been using microsoft vb studio 2008 and showMessage is not available as well as to my vb 2010 express... why?? and also when i try to use msgbox instead it's not also working to a message box. please help me.

It's like the msgbox function. You don't have to put in the title, because it is optional. Instead the title will be the project name.

How to do the same for the mesg variable and make the optional byval for message as well so you can get a default message for each variable if the user leave the 2 boxes empty or show them if he enters a value.
