Hello, i g Hello, we are developers from Ukraine and we are very grateful for such a good soundtrack, we will use it, because we both have no skills in creating music, and this is a very cool job, you are cool uncle

It's the time worth searching for existing music until you can afford OST's, holy moly. Thank you for the pricing guides, they are well deserved.^^

This couldn’t be better timed, I have been trying to get a Halloween short VN in a month challenge done, and whilst I can do art and writing, I had the realisation a few days ago that I had no idea where to find music for the project. This helps massively! Thank tou

Fantastic video mate, music's easily the part of game devving that I struggle with the most but this really helped to clarify some things and point out a few things that I wouldn't have thought of on my own. Thank you!

another BANGER of a video, as always. the amount of effort you put into these is insane !! i love how clearly and concisely you lay out the info. i think my favorite thing has to be the way its not just about ren'py, or the technical stuff, but all-encompassing information that makes it SO easy to get started. you've been super helpful to me and other aspiring game devs, i cant thank you enough for making these

For complex dynamic audio like the example in this video (or even just for literally any kind of music track, just to save time), it's a good idea to combine all the stuff that goes into them into a function call. Cuts everything down to one or two short lines when you're scripting the game, no more copying and pasting filenames every time. Lil' bit complex to learn for the first time for those who picked Ren'Py specifically to avoid code, but it's 100% worth it.

Great video. I use artlist it’s paid for but I can use it through a couple other mediums. One thing I do need to find is a good foley repository.

Oh yeah, once you enter the world of professional productions, there are a TON of great services, but they can cost some serious $$$, and they won't always have what you need! I usually just keep an eye out for any bundle packages that come my way - humble bundle, unity asset store deals, that sort of thing, and I maintain an internal library of sounds + music. If there's any other sound effects that I need, I'll try to find public domain/CC sounds, make them myself, or sometimes, I'll have to mix my own layered foley effects! For instance, "getting hit by a baseball bat" might be "start of a baseball swing sound + breaking wood sound + meat smack sound + bell reverb"

Hey this channel may help me with a problem, okay I need some advice, tell me, how can I make my visual novel have less than 1000 files when I build directions to it, how do I archive files properly or do I need to delete some files?
@vimi
2 жыл бұрын
How many more than a thousand does your game have? Is this for the ren'py web build? How many files of what types do you have? If you have a lot of image files, a cheap fix is to make a texture sheet; put multiple images on the same sheet, and crop the image down to the part you need every time you call it up in engine - this is something Unity does by default.
@Wolf_pigs

@@vimi Well when I render it to test out the game in a build directory for pc and windows not a web build it shows 1,245 files and I only have two images in it, I have the icons and stuff for the visual novel as well and just one script, also how do i create a texture sheet?
@vimi
2 жыл бұрын
@@Wolf_pigs That's a normal amount for PC+Linux builds - you should only have to worry about having less than a thousand for a web build, which you can build with ren'py 7.5; instead of "build distributions", go down to "Web(Beta)" and build your game from there!
@Wolf_pigs

@@vimi Okay, and people will still be able to play it? If yes then one final thing, how do I add the file “index.html” to it?
@vimi
2 жыл бұрын
@@Wolf_pigs Yes, and index.html should automatically be generated in that folder with a web build.
