Your videos are always very organized and well presented. I am very motivated by them!

Can’t believe I’d never thought about using the tape measure tool to resize the model, I’ve often tried to model out known sizes then match the photo to complete with varying levels of success. Thanks for the tips

Thanks for sharing. I've used photomatch quite successfully to model furniture and it is great. I have experienced those same problems and I was wondering what effect the "Field of View" would have, do you know?

Thanks for these videos. If you resume making them into 2020 please make sure the voice-over is centered in the stereo field (or simply made mono).

Good Stuff. It never occurred to me that you could take modeled geometry and paste it into a second photo. I would have redrawn everything. One thing that SketchUp says is to get a photograph of the corner of the structure so you have all three axes.

I’m very interested in learning this program but the free online version doesn’t seem to be as robust as the one I’m seeing in your videos. Could you tell me which version your using?

@@jbonegw I'm using Make 2017...you should be able to still find a copy online. You're right that the free browser version is lacking. I don't like it either but understand that it's part of the ongoing evolution of SketchUp. Hope that helps? Best, Matt

Thank you very much for the reply. I assumed the free version was just that, free. 😂 I’ll have to look into the 2017 version or purchase one of the 2019 subscriptions. This channel and your carpentry channel are two great sources of information and knowledge. Thanks for taking the time to build both.

@@jbonegw hope you can find a copy of the free version to give it a test drive... If you find it useful it's probably worth buying Pro. Personally I resist constant upgrades and changes made in the name of improvement as unwelcome and unwanted but they never ask me🤔🙄😉😎 I just tag along and use whatever suits my needs because I'd hate to have to live without SketchUp... Don't know how I ever did without it!

If I sent you a photo could you make some changes to it? How much would it cost? I’m trying to add some dormers and a garage.

Sorry I don't hire out for that kind of work anymore but I bet you can find someone who does through the SketchUp Forum... good luck!😎

Sadly; no Tom... sorry? I really don't do much in the way of plans here or at Next Level Carpentry... Best, Matt

Why didn't you use the sidewalk leading to the house for the green axis?
@NextLevelCarpentry

Because it's not level and would throw off the axes... a subtle but important difference. Best, Matt

Ok, I can't get the blue line, to stay straight? The green lines are angling it. I want to rip my hair out.

I feel your pain! Give it a rest. Rewatch the sequence in the video that shows how to make those @#$%$#@#$ lines behave and you'll master the technique without further loss of follicles!
