The nostalgia hit big with this one. I was nodding away in agreement with you throughout the whole video. It definitely took me right back to those hot 80s and early 90s summers when this was considered the nectar of the gods for us kids. Great times!

So true about that tupperware pitcher! I think it was against the law to not have one of those in the 80s lol.

I was one of those weird kids that didn’t drink soda because it burned my throat. So anytime at birthday parties, day camp, or vending machines I had to try and find kook aid, Hawaiian Punch, and Apple juice.

Kool-Aid has some of the most memorable and visually iconic branding ever. I remember when Purplesaurus Rex came out. What about Strawberry Falls Punch? Loved that one!

I wouldn't say it's a mid life crisis. More like, taking care of yourself and that's always a good thing. It's a good way to relieve stress as well. Slow and steady as you go though. Too fast too soon, as I understand it, can possibly cause problems. Love this!! Laughed in so many places and agree with all of it! Tupperware was an absolute must have. I always wanted Kool-Aid in our glass pitcher because I could see the color as it mixed with the ice cubes and sugar. If mom made it, we had to wait for it to get cold, like you said and she used the Tupperware. When my sister and I made it, we used ice cubes out of a metal tray with a handle you lay flat and add water, then when it's frozen, you pull up on the handle and ideally, it breaks them into cubes, however, it usually crushed them and we always used the glass pitcher. Always stirred with a wooden spoon. My favorites were, orange, grape and cherry. Later we got strawberry and blue raspberry. I liked all the flavors mom brought home. It was a summertime treat. At my grandparents house we made several flavors at once to see what color our tongue would be. Then we'd go around sticking our tongue out and make a growling noise. Geez we were weird! Rabbit hole moment, my mom was going to get rid of the glass pitcher and cups we used in the 80's not that long ago. That's how long they keep stuff. Anyway, I claimed it. So, now, I have the 80's glass pitcher and all the plastic cups we used back then. Even better, I went to a vintage shop near me and found a set of primary color, small plastic cups we used when we were just learning how to use open cups. So, I picked them up. Now, it's complete! I have made Kool Aid in the 80's pitcher and drank from the 80's cups we used as kids. Ambience matters a great deal in the recreation of feelings. It had to be the same cups. Glass cups didn't feel right. The Kool Aid had to come out of the packet. The sound it makes when it's opened and having to pour it in real careful so you didn't get a nose full of colored Kool Aid dust. It's all part of the experience. I'm definitely sharing this simple drink with a new generation! "Kool Aid is for a kids big thirst!" (did you sing along? No? Go back and sing along, it'll make you smile! :) The Kool Aid guy is forever etched in my mind! Yes please, I'd love to see you remake your childhood Kool Aid experience.

We always kept a gallon of Kool-Aid and Nestle Chocolate milk in the fridge for those hot summer days. Making popsicle sticks with Kool-Aid was also a satisfying treat. I tried Kool-Aid with my kids a few weeks ago and it doesn't taste the same at all neither does TANG. I don't know if they changed the formula throughout the years but its not satisfying anymore. Grape and Orange was my two favorite aside from the cherry.

I loved all the flavors, but my favorite was apple - and then they quit making it. Looking back, I can't believe how much of this I drank as a kid, and you are absolutely correct - no one was concerned about it. BTW, another great Kool-Aid related Tupperware product was the popsicle makers. We had them and it was the cheap way to make tasty popsicles using Kool-Aid. We always had those on hand. That way, when the ice cream truck drove by and us kids begged my mom for a 25 cent popsicle, she could say "No, we have popsicles in the freezer". Haha!

We had a Mexican kid come over from USA when I was in secondary school (high school) I remember him getting this sent over (can't remember the flavour) and I liked it, tons of sugar must of helped 😅
BERRY BLUE DEFINITELY, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS BLUE F'N RASPBERRY, IT WAS DAMN GOOD KOOL-AID! I liked the color changing flavor THE GREAT BLUEDINI & I have the flavor description FROM Google... The Great Bluedini! ✨🐙 The first ever color changing Kool-Aid. Released in 1992 and has only come back once during 2014. A mixture of cherry, peach, blueberry and raspberry.

I have a few interesting FUN KOOL-AID facts! 1.What flavor was Purplesaurus rex? lemon-grape flavor Purplesaurus Rex is like my childhood in a glass. I am so glad Kool-aid brought this back so that I could experience it again. The lemon-grape flavor is super refreshing during the summer heat. 2.What does sharkleberry fin taste like? This is a fin-tastic fusion of strawberry and orange flavors. Kool-Aid Sharkleberry Fin is a harmonious blend of two classic fruit flavors. Sharkleberry Fin is your go-to companion for a summer cool-down. Pour it over ice, add some fresh fruit slices, and you've got an instant oasis of refreshment. THIS IS ACTUALLY ABOUT KOOL-AID, OR AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY NAMED KOOL-ADE'S HISTORY... 3.What is the original Kool-Aid? From "Fruit Smack" to "Kool-Aid" Fruit Smack was corked and sold in bottles, which was very messy. A powdered drink was more appealing to consumers, and in 1927 Perkins' company created Kool-Ade, later renamed Kool-Aid. Perkins first produced Kool-Aid in this building on West First Street in Hastings, Nebraska. Why did Kool-Aid change their name? One says that government regulators complained that "Ade" was reserved for fruit juice products, so the name became "Aid." The other states that "someone threatened to sue Edwin if he used the original name." The "Kool-Aid" name was trademarked in 1934, again by Perkins Products. 4.What flavor was the Green Kool-Aid? It was just "green" Kool-Aid. I'm not sure I ever really knew what flavor it was supposed to be. When I pointed this out to John, he quickly told me the flavor was lime. But when checking this factoid, it turns out the flavor is actually lemon lime. THAT'S MY FAVORITE STORY!! 😁 😂 🍋🟩💚🤑 5.What was the first Kool-Aid flavor? By 1927, he had Kool-Aid. In six delicious flavors--raspberry (Mr. Perkins' favorite), cherry, grape, lemon, orange and root-beer. Strawberry was added later. #5 IS A VERY INTERESTING FACT! 6. What flavor is Blue Kool-Aid? Original Berry Blue Kool-Aid from the '70s or '80s. This is not the same flavor as Berry Blue that is sold today (see here). They reformulated it after taking it off the shelves in the late '70s, early '80s. The closest flavor that currently exists to this is Ice Blue Raspberry Lemonade. HOPE THAT YOU FIND THESE FACTS FUN, & MAYBE THEY CAN BE USED FOR A TRIVIA SEGMENT ON A FUTURE EPISODE!? GLAD TO SEE THAT YOU'RE FEELING BETTER BROTHER!! MUCH LOVE!!♥️💪🏾

@TheNew80sRevolution Speaking of kool aid one of the memories I has was the display. All the flavors side by side so you could see them all. Then it was like 5 for 1$ . So me and my brother each got 5. Then my mom would always pick that awful green yuck 😮. Then the stained red wood spoon and tuper wear.

Koolaid was wild. You literally added 4 cups of sugar to that pouch to make 8 cups of koolaid. Then they came out with the jug with the sugar already added. I didn’t understand how that worked. It made 6 litres of koolaid which in theory needed like 12 cups of sugar. But that little jug was half a litre. It was like it had some kind of magic super concentrated sugar. I know this is a lot of math. I still buy koolaid in the little concentrated squirt bottles. Fruit punch is delicious. No sugar. Just fake sugar. Blue raspberry was a hot flavour back then. I liked strawberry too. Fruit punch and orange were dependable flavours.

I was always a black cherry guy. Also it tasted better if you used 2 packets instead of 1. There used to be a thing called beetlejuice that my sister made I think it was grape and something else. I was excited when dollar general brought back sharkleberry fin a few years back until i drank it, it was awful. Of the newer ones the blackberry lemonade is my favorite.
