you should be proud, 12min flight time on a toy grade quad is really good

Bro where I live its -7C right now. I think your battery is not performing well mainly because you directly connected it to the flight controller instead of soldering it to the battery chip that already came with the drone. You also should make sure you are properly charging the battery with a tp4056 chip. Another reason is you should check to see if the Sony battery is 20C like the original. I think the low temperature may affect it. You may have screwed the flight controller by using such a higher rated battery. Also dude, I think I will try your antenna hack but how can I do it without making my drone yowing to the right? Thx. keep up the good work!

Tawhid K does charging with 4056 chip really important? Can i charge it with standart charging module?

I had expected much more time than 12 mins on a 3000mah battery that only added an extra 28 grams...that is like over 3 times the capacity of the stock battery! It did seem to land at a higher voltage than the stock battery for some reason....Maybe that is why no quads use 18650's.....

That's a bit of a mystery yes.. by the way, there's at least one drone that I know of, which uses 18650. it's called "Geniusidea follow drone".

Jarkko J There is a need to program the drone to stop at lower voltage, for instance like in Hubsan drones is possible, then it could drain more voltage out the battery

Thank you for this wonderful video. Try without battery holder and solder wires to battery directly. May be fly 2 or 3 minutes more.

it's very interesting to watch your experiments! I already order such a drone, I will do as you do. I looked at a lot of battery material for this drone. it is very difficult to find a worthy replacement. there is a problem in a large current gives the battery. 20-30 a 900Mah 30C

I calculated the average current to be about 6.3A with the stock battery and 7.8A with the 18650. But it's better to use higher rated battery, it gets less hot and the voltage stays higher.

Hi, i bought a Panasonic 18650 and got the tp4056 chip but the drone dies after about 1 min. The specs are: Rated Capacity: 3170mAh (0.634A discharge at 20°C) Capacity (Minimum): 3220mAh (0.644A discharge at 25°C) Capacity (Typical): 3350mAh (Reference only) Nominal Voltage: 3.6V Max charging voltage: 4.2±0.03V Charging current(Std.) : 0.805A (0~+10°C)/ 1.61A (+10~+45°C) Charging time(Std.): 4.0 hours Max continuous discharge currnt: 4.83A (0~+40°C) Discharge end voltage: 2.8V Internal impedance: (23±2°C) ≤less than 100mΩ Can someone make something out of this????

IIHenkell, Max continuous discharge current is very low. You must be use high drain battery and connect strong connections. Don't forget battery internal resistans must be lower than 40mOhm.

How did you go about calculating the average current?
