I had daily migraines for over two years, with more intense pain if I lacked sleep. I tried OTC medicine, sumatriptan, topiramate, etc. A headache specialist then mentioned it could be a B2 deficiency. I started taking supplements and my migraines were gone within a week. This doctor did her research on the role of riboflavin in reducing inflammation in the brain. I do follow a vegetarian/nearly vegan diet.

I just saw a neurologist today because I been having a bad headache for the past 2 weeks since 5/19/21. I never suffered from headaches or migraines. I asked around my family to see if it ran in my family and it didn't so I became concerned. The neurologist asked me to start B2 and Magnesium vitamins. I hope it's just a small migrane attack and it's not something else because that would not be good. I have for the past 2 years been engaged in excersise and healthy eating, when the migrane occurred it came without warning it was so scary because I eat healthy, excersise but I guess that wasn't helpful because I haven't been able to excersise and cannot till after an MRI is done to make sure it isn't something graver! Goodluck to you if you're having one, it isn't fun, don't wait to see a doctor about it!

My Dr recommended this for my migraines, but I’ve always (50yrs) taken 500mgs of B3 at the first hint of a migraine and the aura subsides with in minutes. Best part I can carry a tablet with me. Because this has worked so effectively I’m not willing to give the B2 a go. So I’d be interested in your experience with B2.

Naturopathic physician had me do a metabolic work up, low and behold, among other issues I was starting to have an inkling of, I was deficient, at least relative to the general population, in B2 (and a few other B's as well, not nearly so dramatically.) Along with nearly everything I've learned in the last six months, since being diagnosed with very, very advanced osteoporosis (age 61, long distance runner and strength trainer until my back would no longer allow it,) no one ever, ever, educated or even hinted at the downstream effects or impacts of Hashimotos thyroiditis. I only by accident learned Hashimotos was why I had low thyroid. It appears that I do in fact have absorption issues that could predate Hashimotos, but if not, I now know absorption is almost surely an issue with that diagnosis, as is overgrowth of bad bacteria (also me, off the charts on that one,) heart issues (here I am,) and osteoporosis, which could partly be due to occasional, perhaps frequent over-medication, (didn't know that could happen either,) but also absorption issues. 😞 So now, last three weeks, I've been taking an injection of B vitamins supposedly formulated for me, a daily liquid B complex which I do take with food, and my diet has been supposedly absorption-friendly for the last three months. I probably have had visible symptoms of B deficiency at various times, but most recently it's been a feeling that the interior of my lips has been burned, then, the tip of my tongue got in the act. Those symptoms started to diminish about two days after the first injection, were nearly completely gone by the two week point, but now today I noticed my tongue feels burned again despite eating/drinking nothing that was likely to burn it. I still recognize it could be something else but it makes me wonder: is it hard to get back in balance? I've also been someone who was conscious of weight all my life, chubby kid in the 60s when everyone looked like a twig. Started dieting early, probably could have been diagnosed as bulimic, wasn't a purger, generally, of what I already ate, but I was an " intermittent faster", you could say, from a young age. Now intermittent fasting is all the rage, and in 2020, when I and millions of others discovered KZitem, I got on the IF bandwagon again. I was probably already significantly osteoporotic then, no idea of course, and now am looking back wishing I hadna done that, but of course the doctors and others who promote it don't mention possible vitamin deficiencies or "be careful (don't do it) if you have osteoporosis." Or maybe they did but I didn't think I had it, so didn't apply to me, Whatever, just my PSA: if you are having back pain and persistent injuries from not thar major of an incident, and you're a postmenopausal female, get your bone density checked. I've now had a doctor admit they don't screen (don't even think of it, even if you break a bone, even if you complain about your back,) if you're under 65. My husband has osteoporosis too, that's how I found out I did, (he fractured two vertebrae,) but his case doesn't impact his life. Meanwhile, I've been busy trying to catch up with the 90 year-Olds, and it has completely upended my life. All to say, all this stuff is no joke. It's easy to say, "If I would've known I've done things differently," but you know you wouldn't have, because you feel okay. But I started not feeling okay at all 16 years ago and I DID make the changes I knew to make (increased my activity, kept on with strength training,) but you can see, I didn't know of much because no one ever told me. (I had seen some info on Hashimotos but I didn't know I had it until about 5 years ago, and then...I guess I didn't have KZitem that's ever so helpful pulling up videos I might be interested in but would never have thought to search for myself.) So if you're here and you don't know, I'm telling you, Take care of yourself.

Getting too much vitamin B-2 The primary risk of excess B-2 is damage to the liver. However, excess riboflavin, or riboflavin toxicity, is rare. You'd have to eat almost impossibly large quantities of food to overdose on riboflavin naturally👍

Fat soluble vitamins are A,D,E,K. B vitamins are water soluble. Excess ingestion of he former group can accumulate in fat, thus can become toxic. The latter group is water soluble, thus is released from the body in liquid form, and thus, is not toxic. Like anything else, too much of anything produces or leads to danger or death to the body.

Eat lots of leafy greens, vegies and fruits, regular and breathing exercises, take B complex vitamin, no dairy was wondering if I need B2, B complex has 20mg, alone in a higher dosage would help lower my hypertension. No, grains are a very poor source of B2. Legumes are the best plant source of B2. You also forgot to mention fish. Fish doesn't count as a "meat" by the way (I see you count eggs as a different category from meats). By the way, some greens are very poor sources of B2 and of the B vitamins in general e.g. cabbage. So no, "greens" are not a dietary source of B2 unless everything that moves or grows out of the ground is a dietary source of B2. When you say "grains" are a dietary source of B2, do you mean raw unmilled grains fed to cows and pigs or do you mean the "wholegrains" found in the supermarket? This is not a minor detail.
