Blendtec is just as expensive if not more and it's no way near as good as Vitamix, sorry but it's true, and for that price point, if it needs something to push the product down they should design it and put one specifically for that blender in with your blender purchase. If it doesn't come with one, I assume it shouldn't need it.

Yes you can make but butter but it take a long time and a lot of starting, stopping and scraping the sides etc. pesto is about the limit of the Blendtec and things like the same nicecream forget about it unless you like spending time stuffing around. Anything that is solid or sticky isn’t for the Blendtec. If or should I say when I buy a new blender, it will be a Vitamix.

Hey Derek. I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and I really look forward to everything you put out. You were a big inspiration on me to start eating healthier (btw I’ve been vegan for 2.5 years). So anyways... my father recently passed away and I’m only 16 years old, like you were when you lost your dad (my dad was vegan too). And although I believe that genetics doesn’t play a big role in longevity, my father died from a sudden cardiac arrest which can happen to younger people, affects males, and was something that all his uncles had. He went vegan because he wanted to join my sister and I in our new lifestyle and wanted to be healthy. After becoming vegan his blood tests were phenomenal, and his cholesterol went down 45 points, along with taking multi vitamin and omega 3 supplements. He was in great shape and before he died recently had run 1.5 miles in under 9 minutes after not running at all, and at 71 years old. This has been really hard for my family but I always went back to you as a source of positivity. If there is something you could say or share, it would mean a lot. Thanks.

Well, one could also argue that the BlendTec had 50% more horsepower than the Vitamix so a direct comparison of the two brands is unfair from the inception. I've owned both brands, and have to say that the Vitamix is the best for how I use it, which is mostly for juices and smoothies. The manual speed dial allows anyone to quickly become an expert at avoiding the dreaded air bubble stall, getting a great blend without aerating the mix too much. I felt like the BlendTec, while still a fantastic blender, just tended to splash and whip liquids too much due to the higher horsepower and wider pitcher design. I spent much more time pausing to wipe down pitcher walls on the BlendTec than I ever did with the Vitamix. If a person wants to crush ice, I'd say the BlendTec beats the Vitamix pretty easily, but for juice and smoothies, I prefer the narrow and tall pitcher and the power level and direct control of the Vitamix to the wide pitcher, higher horsepower and preset digital controls of the BlendTec.

Wish I could have seen this before I chose to get a vitamix. Such a practical review because you’re doing things I would actually do. I chose the vitamix because of the blade design and the tamper. I had a blendtec before and it ALWAYS left chunks. I don’t understand their design at all. If I tried to blend anything with dates.. dear god. I have so much love for my vitamix

I love my $39 Oster blender that holds 6 cups and has a heavy glass jar. A tamper is available for about $10. I've never tried to pulverize raw kale, but I have used it to pulverize dried chili peppers to make Mexican chile roja. Parts are available on Amazon. Since it is only $39, I can use the rest of the money for a two-week camping trip on the beach in California!

On any blender discussion out there, there is always at least one clown who jumps out with his $40 blender and bangs how it does everything he wants it to do, except maybe 10 other things he never does... because he can't.

@@vitaminb4869 Nonsense. I'm quite happy with the one I own. Honestly, I think the expensive blenders are a rip off and I understand your pride in conspicuous consumption. But you must be hallucinating to think your blender does so much that my $39 one can't.

@@allencrider lol. I used to think the same thing but the high powered blenders are a great investment if you do a lot of food prep or if you regularly consume veggie smoothies. Much higher caliber-no question. I borrowed one before spending the $ to be absolutely sure it was worth it. No way I could go back to the cheap quality blenders ever again.

On the blendtec when making ice cream you could have stopped it and pushed stuff down with a spoon or something. Sure it takes more time and effort but you’d at least get ice cream out of it and then compare the total time. vitamix still would have won but it wouldn’t have been a complete blow out.

Awesome infomercial. I have a normal 90€ blender. It can't mix everything (like raw brownie dough) but i am quite happy with it for the last 6+ years, also it has a glass jar which i prefer. But i think the next time when i move countries again, i will get a vitamix

I've had a Blendtec for over 8 years, but am in the market for a new one. I'm leaning toward a Vitamix, but I have to say that you are not operating the Blendtec correctly. You can't do everything at full speed. Both the ice cream and lemon tests will work, but you need to go at slower speeds and pulse to begin to avoid the air pocket, then increase the speed. Having said that, the presets are not all that useful, so if you were doing a proper test, you would operate it manually, which is how the Vitamix works. Thanks for the great demo, tho! Fun to watch.

After a few years a seal on the spindle(?) broke and was leaking black goo, BB&B gave me a whole new Vitamix!!!! They sent the old one back to Vitamix who refurbishes them, that's another way to get one for less-go to the Vitamix website and buy a refurbished one. I make smoothies everyday with ❤️ my Vitamix! It will cream up whole flax seeds and cacao nibs and most anything you like in a smoothie.

Thanks for the hilarious video, Derek & Crystal. Are you staying somewhere else? We've gone from a $20 blender to a Breville 1200W blender to a Nutribullet 1200W. The Nutribullet seems to do the best but will definitely be buying a Vitamix next time to give the food processor a break from making peanut butter. I would like one that isn't upside down and has the stick.

I have ordered a blendtec I like the look of the design better. Also they are most common here in our UK food businesses Like starbucks vosta and other small independents. Blendtec blenders need more liquid for some product s you are making. Where as the vita mix you would use slightly less stock in a business. As you won't need to add more milk cream or water ect.

My vitamix overheats and turns itself off when you make tough things like hummus. It is also impossible to get the stuff out of the bottom because the blades are there, and it's a pain to clean. The Nutribullet pro is really good for smoothies and a lot easier to clean
