If you work out your rendering/projection latency and pass that into the pose request, you can keep the tank images "locked" onto the physical tanks.

Somewhere inside the engine (Unity in this case). I don't know how they set up the camera for this application. At some point they're calling one of the OpenVR pose interfaces and it takes a prediction time in seconds.
