Thank you. I try to assume people are already familiar with HA and esphome. If not there are plenty of videos out there that they can view. My next video will use this sensor to turn on my exhaust fan in my bathroom but ONLY when you set down on the seat.

Can this be used for a entry and exit point as a person counter ?! Or have 2 ToF sensors ?!

Yes, the sensor will only change states when you are directly in front of it. It can detect up to around 6 feet in front of it. It reports as unknown when detecting nothing then starts reporting the distance to the object in real time. I use it in my bed occupancy sensor to detect when i'm setting in bed vs laying down. Also use it at the entrance to my foyer to automatically unlock my smart lock on my front door. You could use it to count people also, just create a HA counter helper. You would need 2 TOF sensors for that to know weather to increase or decrease the counter.

If I have a D1 Mini instead of the esp32, which GPIO ports should I use?

The D1 form factor comes in 2 flavors the ESP8266 and the ESP32. I'm assuming your referring to the ESP8266 version. The ESP8266 does not come with I2C (pronounced eye-squared-see) hardware pins as such but you can use GPIO pins 4 (SDA) and pin 5 (SCL) to do the same thing. Here is a link to a web page that explains the protocol and the hardware a bit more randomnerdtutorials.com/esp8266-pinout-reference-gpios/ Hope this helps and if you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask. FYI, make sure to change pins in the code to scl: 5 and sda: 4 otherwise it won't work.
