Thank you again Tara, I like to listen to your blog before I dive into my research. I've been lucky to have many awesome supervisors and I've always outgrown them. My analytic skills went to a higher level and I needed to move on. So, I think awesome supervisor wants their students to move on....advance beyond them.....and do not get angry but realize it is a natural evolution. As for me, I want people to continue to build on the foundation of my work. That would make me happy most of all. It's been a long time since I've been to Australia but you would be on my list. Australia is definitely God's place with the friendliest people in the world (besides the Canadians). I couldn't talk my partner to buying a house in Hobart but that was a previous chapter and I do not know what other chapters are over the horizon and that makes life my oyster.

I like your perceptive observations on the self-interested and self-absorbed people in power within the academic environments. It's hard to imagine what their supervisees would become when they grow up in this environment. -:((
