Honestly thank you for sharing this! I never related more to to someone’s words and feelings, as I am also out here in Korea teaching, battling the expectations of my family versus my expectations for myself!! I appreciate your channel so much!

Your statement you made about the way you feel about yourself and your life milestones potentially becoming a codependent relationship was fantastic! So many people here in the states (and elsewhere) equate life achievements to their value as a person. I was guilty of this, It always made me feel "not good enough", "lacking", and "behind in life." It took several years for me to break that mindset. I KNEW it wasn't true but I still couldn't help feeling that it was. Mindset takes a lot of practice. You always have such grounded insight in your videos. I always enjoy watching , and I'm so glad that you're becoming confident and content with your life overseas ❤❤❤

Don't devalue your experiences, Will, look where you've already been thanks to them, on your path, while many people never try to discover such one, because it takes a great deal of determination to defy the expectations of others, which is the hardest. Look how strong you are and it has nothing to do with being selfish or heartless, it's not about refusing to help someone when such help is needed only about your right to make your choices, especially since you take responsibility for them and no one else. Experience your life and enjoy your youth. Wish you many further interesting travels.

It’s so hard not being defined by those timelines. I feel it especially as a woman, since I supposedly have a “limited” window I can get married and have kids. It’s awful and probably the reason so many rush and just find someone and end up miserable. Going against the grain is a hard and lonely journey, I salute you. The most unrelatable part was the crying 😂 I have those bawling sessions quite regularly

I feel the same way with you Will. Last year that my younger brother got his first relationship, he seems happy where he is in life right now. I build up so much anger because I feel my family doesn't know what I'm feeling inside. That's why there's times when I don't feel like talking to them or most people I know, about my own life, but get upset when I don't talk to them and find it frustrating whenever I ask them what they're feeling and they refuse to talk about it. They just don't understand I want to enjoy being alone, but not alone forever. It's a cycle that keeps repeating itself and things never change between each other. I also want to enjoy my youth. I want to travel, go to concerts, meet friends, have a good job... But other things in the world make me think that it's impossible. We all need all the communication and love to go around to who really needs it right now.

You have your own journey. Live it up. You can always get a wife, kids, and house payment, later. But traveling while you are young and healthy and financially able is awesome. So many want to and can't for financial/health reasons. You value your independence and autonomy; your path is yours to design. Can't wait to hear about your month long journey.

I don’t think it is selfish to do what you want to do with your life. It is selfish for others to expect us to do what they want us to do.

Sounds like you have made STEP 1 of your Self Help Journey knowing where you want to live and you are setting goals and achieving them like travelling. Pace yourself with your goals otherwise you will overwhelm yourself. Our Parents can only advise and support us Ultimately it's our decision to make our own life make mistakes, learn life lessons, and become stronger. It's hard for our Parents to realise we are Adults now it's their job to be protective as they don't want to see us hurt and in pain. We don't always see it as that though. I think no matter what age you are we all have to be selfish at times and think of ourselves what we decide is always going to be judged and disapproved by others being Family, Friends, Work Colleagues. Only we can decide what life path we want to take even as Adults. Others can't live our Life Journey for us no matter how much they want too. It's up to us All to Live our Lives to the best of our Ability. It's all part of Learning curve in our own Life's Journey. Our Life's Journey is like being a train on a track their are obstacles that derail us but we just have to get ourselves back on our Life track and continue on our Life Journey. I say this because my Life lately has been a continuous Train Wreck. And people who I call my Carriages (Friends) both online and in real life have uncoupled themselves from my life and all because of my behaviour. No matter how many times you say sorry it just doesent cut it and they have joined another engine. I am slowly regaining control of my train and getting it back on track. Wishing you every Success in All aspects of your Life and in your Self Help Journey.

Why do you feel like your time here has been a failure? Is the reason intrinsic or extrinsic? Maybe you need to change your point of view from 'I'm failing' to 'I'm learning'. You also need to think about where home is. You're staying in Korea because it's the life that you want but you often say 'back home' when talking about America. There's conflict there. Keep doing you, your journey is YOUR journey, what others want for you may not be what's right for you. That's something only you can decide.

I think that’s what this video is trying to portray that my life isn’t a failure here anymore and it’s becoming more than that. Also I think there is a misunderstanding, staying here doesn’t mean I’m calling it home, it just means it’s a path I’m continuing to take. 💯 I hope you’re able to continue pursing your wants and needs too!
